Default RE-11s

Hi guys,

have my car for 6 months now and it's time to change rear tires. I wanna order RE-11 to replace stocks but in a 285-35-19 on a stock wheel, would there be any issues by going from 275 to 285 on the same wheel?
Thanx for any replies

The width is fine. The only thing to check on is the tire diameter. You are shooting for a diameter between 26.5 and 26.9" ideally. Unfortunately tirerack doesn't have these specs yet as this is a brand new tire size. At a guess I think the diameter will be good but it would be nice to double check.

Well, i ordered them already so I guess I'll check diametar and post it in a few days for everyone else to know. Width will be fine, google told me that in order to run 285 I need 9.5" wheel and our stock is 10"
Thanx for your reply

The actual width of rim required depends on profile as much as tire width. But yes, the 285 is not a problem considering I have a 305 mounted currently

I have always felt that the stock rear tires look a bit "stretched" on the stock rear wheels. Anyone here sharing that opinion? (I don't like the stretched look one bit...)

True, also leaves wheels kind of unprotected to curbage since visibility out of the car is very poor. My last car, Boxster S with PS2s, was great in that regard. I didn't put a scratch on either wheel in 4 years with the car.

Why was it great, was the tire wider relative to the rim or do the PS2's side wall stick out more? (covering the rim)

Yes, the wheel was not as wide as it is on our car compared to the tire, but I think that the side wall on PS2s is much more pronounced
