Tips for jacking up car?

Hey guys, I'm going to be jacking up my 370 in a few days in order to swap out a wheel - this will be the first time using a jack on my 370. Does anyone have tips on what I should or shouldn't do, or is there anything different about the 370 I should know beforehand? I'm just going to use the supplied scissor jack.

Just follow the procedure in the manual.

make sure to chock a tire on the other side... if you're lifting the front tire, chock the rear tire on the other side. if you're lifting the rear tire, chock the front tire on the other side, and so on.

i roll mine up on 2x4s up front block the rears and slide my low profile jack right under there

Be careful not to bend the jack point rails with the low profile jack....

Great point, I actually have a two special pinch weld jack pads, but you can make your own: DIY Pinch Weld Adapter

actually i use the 2x4's to get it up high enough so i can jack right under the main subframe bolts

I haven't jacked up my Z yet, but I would be careful on the front center jack point not to slightly dent in the crossmember. I did that on my 300ZX. I used a small piece of wood on my jack and that just caused a small indention to be made on the cross member. I would use a larger piece of wood to distribute more weight on the small area of the jack point...

i have a little piece of oak (not sure about 2" wide) that i cut from scrap that i use on the inside-side of the rail where there is a little bump on the car. it's placed between the rail and watever black body part that is.

my hydraulic has a flat platform so i just place the piece of scrap wood on it and raise the car at the jack points. i would not want to put the weight on the tip of the rails.
