18X8.5 with 245/45 and 18x10 with 275/40

So not sure at all what I can do for a square setup, for tires.

It just depends on how aggressive you want to be. You can go either 18x10.5 or 11. Then from there it is a matter of off sets.

Sounds like the op wants rubber recommendations for the current wheels.

One way is to get another pair of wheels that match the rear then same-size tires can be used.

OP's car sees track duty about 2/3 of the time, so I assume he's more so sensitive to tire behaviors.

If he's asking to run square tire on his current wheels, then I would think the different "stretchness" may cause a funny feeling, where front tire sidewall is more prone to bend vs the rear. A proper width tire that matches to a 10 in wheel will certainly have a healthy bulge if fitted on a 8.5 in wheel.

You don't want a square tire setup on those wheels. Just get appropriately wide tires for the 8.5 inch fronts and slightly wider tires to fit your 10 inch rears.

Or get two more 10 inch rear wheels (depending on your existing rear wheel offset) and run a full square setup (4x 18x10s) with spacers on the rear so you can rotate your tires.

Or go Hotrodz and shake it up with some 11 inch wheels all around

AFAIK Z33 and Z34 have massive space when it comes to fitting very wide tires, so much space that they would embarass Corvette of any generation. I'm pretty sure that your rear wheels and tires will fit upfront just fine. IMO 275 on 10" fits easily up front, on my previous 350Z, I fitted 275 on 10.5" up front and there was space left everywhere at full turns.

Unless your rear wheel offsets are extremely aggressive, you should be able to run them up front without issue.

May I ask what your original thought/goal was in terms of the original post? Were you looking to be able to rotate tires for wear purposes (great plan btw) or were you looking for a bigger tire up front for performance purposes (also good)? Seems like you need to focus on wheel sizes - not tire sizes.

well was just thinking and playing, now thinking again... agree with wheel sizes and offsets...

Truth is, trying not to be cheap, but just trying to get tire cost down a bit from the 19's.. So I have at least 6 months, before next track season starts in 2022..

ok, did an experiment, I put the 18x10 with 275/40 on the front.
Interesting in that, I had rubbing with the setup, could be that the car was too low. I do not have problems with my 19 setup. the front are 265/35..
so here are the pics..

IMG_5156.JPG

IMG_5158.JPG

IMG_5159.JPG

Do not know the offset of the wheels I used up front, trying to find out.
so the thinking/research continue.

Really want to go to 18s, many because of lower tire cost/selection. but I need to figure out the wheels first....

Just looking for comments and ideas, so that I can get educated..

Thanks ahead of time...

The 275/40/18 is slightly taller and wider than the 265/35/19. Approximately 0.4" on both. Knowing the offsets of the respective wheels would help with the comparison.

You want to run 275 35 or if you want wider 295 30 or 315 30. I would recommend 275 35 square for NA vehicle setup. Also how much camber are you running?

Spot on for street and track. You should not have any rubbing with the tire sizes that were recommended.
