$25-$30 a wheel is pretty common unfortunately. Some places have a "tirerack.com" rate which is closer to $15. My local shop will do them for $10 each if they are off the car, $15 otherwise.

s1 evo
Hi Guys,
I just picked up a set of Hancook S1 Evo's.. I am a bit concerned as i didn't see them in this pole. I asked for the v12 evo's but apparently the guy said the s1 evos are better.. Can anyone shed light on this? hopefully i didn't just buy a **** tire.. Cheers, |
Some people said the S1 was better, especially in dry conditions. However the S1 has been discontinued so check the date stamp on the tires, you may be getting old stock!
Here's how you read the date code on the tire. Tirerack - Determining the Age of a Tire |
oh wow, thanks for that!
The build date actually shows 4206.. SO 2006!! i rang the retailer and he was like ohh must have been an error with hancook. 2006 is too old right? the tires will be dry and become hard? His going to switch them for me on Monday after his spoken to hancook apparently. |

Only time I buy older tires is if they are race tires because I burn them up so quickly. But I can tell the difference to the fresh ones. |
So if he comes back to me and for any reason he can't get me a new set, is it bad to stick with these? or should they be ok? payed $2000 australian for all 4 tires so it's a bit disappointing to find this out!

My Hankooks V12s will be here tomorrow, paid about $700 for all four! |
I got the Hankook on my other car. It's not a bad tire, but dont expect to win anything in autox or track as they overheat way too quickly

V12.
I got first hand experience. The run I had after lunch break (about 1 hour) was my quickest by far. After that, the tires just got too hot (in a FWD car) to be in contention at all. This was on a 3000lbs car too, well 3200lbs with me in it. They are no RE-11 or Star Spec if you plan to race them, but they seem to be a good affordable performance tires for the street. Oh yeah, the sidewalls are noodles on it too. |
I ran the V12s pretty damn hard on the Dragon and Cherohala skyway this past weekend. By far the hardest I've run this car on the street and they did pretty well.
Certainly not a track day test, but for the street they did great. I think I'm going to try the RE11s next, though. |
I have had mine (Hankook V12) for just under 48 hours and I would rank them above the stock RE50s for street use. I will have more impressions of them soon as I get more miles on them.

Yea tin we pay top dollar for these type of tires down here.. Hardly anyone runs 305's so they are not a common tire, alot of shops dont stock them and order them in.
So he came back to me today saying that hancook has no newer 305's for me and that the hancook v12s dont come in 305. He gave me hancook australia's number and i called them and they explained to me that the last 305 they do which we get access to in Australia is the s1 evo which they stopped making 305s for in 2006.. He told me my warranty will be applied from the day of invoice regardless... I dont know what to do? If i go another brand tire - i will be looking at potentially 800$ a tyre for the 305s. sigh =/ |
