12/19 - Installation Complete! (minor issues)
http://www.the370z.com/304228-post1.html What a long day! I arrived at my dealer ship around 8:30AM to get the installation started, but they were afraid their machines weren't able to get the tires mounted without damaging the wheels. They suggest we visit another shop to get the tires on and balanced before letting them finish the installation. So my dad and I headed over to 3 different shops. All were capable of getting the tires mounted and balanced, but they refused to install the spacers. We came back to the dealership nearly 2 hours later and found out they were willing to install the spacers, so we went to the nearest shop to get the tires installed and balanced. Then we had issues with TPMS. Our tire shop refused to take the time to properly mount the TPMS on the adapters saying there were fitment issues. So I gave up since I was crunched for time. So finally, right when the dealership was about to close we got the wheels mounted. Looks pretty good. I was hoping the wheels would get tucked in a little bit. Maybe I can try to squeeze in 255/40 and 285/35 tires, but I didn't think the wheels would stick out this far. Does anyone have balancing issues with spacers? I can feel it in the steering wheel, but nothing severe. If anyone wonders, regardless, I have no plans to drop my car. This is it. Once the weather warms up, I'll get some better shots and update this post once more. Stay tuned! |
Wow the rims look great on your car. That finish looks nice. But the wheel gap is pretty bad.

Other than that, I was on the left turn lane. Next to me was a GTO. When the light changed, he just sat there and didn't move lol. |
those wheels look sick!!!! I agree on the gap as well and I think eibachs would do wonders... the drop is very subtle and the ride quaility is nearly identical to stock... You may be happy with them...

Eibach Pro? 0.9"F and 0.8"R right? I never really had an interest, but I'll think about it for next year. Plus, I don't want to increase chances of my exhaust scraping. That and not requiring additional work (components) would be nice as well. The rear wheel really lines up with the fender edge!
I was never really a fan of lowering stuff. Plus, I'm a bit fatigued from the hassles of getting the tires, spacers, and wheels installed the first place. TPMS issues aside... bleh. I can also feel a tiny bit of balance issues on the freeway. :-/ Thx... sleepy time. My friend took plenty of pictures, so I'll update this thread (and photo album) later this week :) |

http://www.the370z.com/brakes-suspen...html#post55996 You can always switch them back to stock if you don't like the ride. A 285/35 in the rear will help not scrape the rear canisters. It's 22.5 mm taller overall compared to the 295/30. A 305/30 would help too, but it's only about a 6mm difference. |
Those turned out perfectly IMO. The fitment looks spot on, but as the others mentioned I would HIGHLY recommend a set of Eibachs to eliminate the wheel gap. I think you would be much happier with the fitment and look with the wheel gap gone. As for the vibration, that should not be happening. We have installed countless sets of wheel spacers and a vibration is not something that should have happened. I would check 1 of 2 things. 1st make sure the hubcentric rings were installed with the wheels. Otherwise there may be something off with the spacer install. Nonetheless, the wheels look amazing :)

I def. understand what you mean with scraping, when I was younger, I bottomed out my RSX but I had a very low drop it was like 2 inches. When I get my Volk's I'll prob. go with the Eibach kit.

LOL... okay. Man I was hoping I didn't need to drop my car like the 350Z. I'll look into getting a set of Eibach Pro set sometime next year.
As for tires, I may try to get 255/40 and 285/35... just a tad worried about the rear fenders. The hub centric rings were initially installed on the wrong wheels. I told the installer two of each for the front wheels only, so he moved them over and tapped them in. Do you think the rings were in too deep? |
We also just got some TEIN S-Tech's in as well. Let us know when you are ready, and Ryan can get a set out. :)
The hub rings sometimes need some persuasion to install, but as long as he installed one per hub, you should be fine. |

One per hub? I got 4 rings... thought I had to put 2 in each front wheel because of the spacers. Ruh oh... He tapped it in with a mallet, so I wonder if it's too deep or is normal. I'm going to have them retorque the wheels tomorrow. It's going to be ugly weather-wise later this week. |

1 Per hub. Having 2 each in the front is what is causing your vibration. You need to fix that :) If you need new rings give me a call. |

Just to double-check, so even the rear wheels need the ring as well? This is how my installer had the first place, but I thought he got it wrong. Also, it has to go all the way inside? |
The hub ring always goes on the hub. Some spacers are hubcentric and don't need the hub ring. It should be pretty clear. Either it fits or it doesn't. Call me or Ryan if w can clarify further.

POST #1 Revised with higher quality photos!
Ah okay I misunderstood the instructions since I never dealt with hub rings. I thought it was convenient to insert the rings into the wheel before mounting it. I'll try to make an "emergency" appointment with my dealer tomorrow to get this fixed. [sigh] Thanks again guys... beautiful aggressive wheels. |
Let us know how it turns out. That nasty vibration should go away once this is fixed ;)
BTW new pictures on 1st post are amazing. Really shows off how nice the wheels are :) |

Just like my "snow pic" in another thread, the silver Z looks spectacular in a gray setting. And those wheels.....:yum: |
Get a drop! Sorry - had too...seriously though, wheels are f***ing sexy! Formula Silver reallys sets off the car.
|
I woke up around 7AM (whoopee for vacation haha) to make the "emergency" call to get everything fixed. I guess the front wheels don't need the hub rings due to the spacers. Casual drive is stable now with virtually no vibration, but I've not exceeded 45mph.

Although it wasn't something I was aiming for (cmon, who wouldn't want these wheels for themselves? :excited:), but the car is definitely turning heads. :happydance: |
I think the lip will really set the car off - infact I think every 370 should have a front lip, but that's just me! lol
|
Hi do you think
19X9.5 +24 19x10.5 +24 will fit your Z? |
Wheel balance or spacers?
After getting the hub centric rings removed from the front wheels (rubbing against the spacer, so it was tossed out), the steering vibration issue remains.
At 60-70 MPH cruising speed the steering wheel gets twitchy and the car gets a little shaky for about a minute and goes away entirely. It comes back whenever I get on the freeway. |
Probably the spacers. I had vibration w/my ichiba version ones. Took the spacers off and smooth as glass. Bought H&R spacers and 99% went away.
|
I just found my next set of wheels!
H&R spacers = no problems. |
Drats... I currently have KICS spacers. I'll have to see if there's an H&R one available for the 370Z. Did you guys put in the supplied hub rings? The rings given to me didn't fit through the spacer, so I left them out.
|
Digi it looks fantastic, I think you should photoshop your car lower in one of those pics. It will make a HUGE difference. Its going to look even better buddy.
