in Denver and Jeffco they run you up a dyno for exhaust gasses, check your o2 sensors via OBD2 port and check your gas system with the little gas cap suction thingie (or is it pressure).
However if you drive by the on ramp truck with the sensors out next to them three times with low enough visible emissions (as seen by the sensors by the truck) you will not need to get an inspection. (I think you have to pass the first year to get registered with a plate but can pass the trucks after that first registration year because the truck scans your plate when you zip by...hopefully with your foot off the gas)
