Just remember that the MSDN key for these older products is bogus any way, they all use the same legacy fake code.

I'll keep looking.
awesomeness

PM your asking price once you found it.

By the way, I can buy Visual Basic 4.5 retail/sealed for $10. I saw it yesterday at a local store that sells old computers parts. Let me know if 4.5 could be upgraded with your 6.0 disc!

I think I did something similar for one of my old VS versions - bought a copy of Visual J++ 1.0 for cheap, then upgraded it

BTW, while the company may not own the compiled program (Radio Shack employment agreements not withstanding), I would be most companies have employment policies that prohibit using company property for non-company business operations.

Interesting:

Alvin: I understand you want to download Visual Basic 6.0. However, I have to let you know that this product has been removed from Subscriber Downloads due to the terms of Java-related settlements Microsoft made with Sun Microsystems. It is no longer available from Microsoft in any form, but may be available through third-party resellers or Web sites.

franklin: understand

Alvin: You may refer to the following web page:

Alvin: Product Availability

Alvin: MSDN Subscriptions | Product Availability

Alvin: "Products Unavailable due to Java-related Settlement"

yeah, I want to buy my own compiler, to avoid issues of any type.

Funny thing is that not even microsoft can sell it (or provide it), because they got sued by SUN... probably for including java stuff in it back then.

Interesting, but seems incorrect. I downloaded the VB 6 ISO from my MSDN subscription and it looks like just what it says - thought I didn't install it

Fun to look back through old history - my VS 6 Upgrade box on top of my Windows CE Tools box on top of my Paradox 8 box on top of my Newton Toolkit and Newton MessagePage 2000 boxes

Or my OOPSLA '89 Proceedings on the shelf beneath my MS-DOS 5.0 manual and my PostScript Programming Reference, and on top of my Norton Utilities Advanced box

I really need to throw more stuff away!!!

I logged on with work MSDN account, and VB6 is downloadable as you said. ohh well, not sure if its worth arguing with customer support.

I am off to bed Wilson. Thanks again for trying to help me out.

Before you throw stuff away, look it up on ebay and see if its worth anything

p.s. you just just need netware and you'd have the complete vintage collection (lol)

I'd take a $300/hour job looking through CDs

Looks sort of like a personal Wiki tool or maybe AskSam, though not yet as powerful.
Fun to rewrite in C#/WPF, though I don't know why it is doing anything that wouldn't port easily to VB.Net.

BTW, saw this at MSDN:
Bytes by MSDN: Dr. Ivan Sanabria and Tim Huckaby - Migrating VB6 apps to C# or .NET | Bytes by MSDN | Channel 9

Wilson,

I am glad that you are interested on the subject. There are many reasons why I can't migrate to .net. But mostly having to do with the program needing to be re-written from scratch. Its just not worth my time.

Did you install it, or just going by the picture on the website?

I love channel 9. Let me check out your link.
