I suggest running the "non water proof" back. It really helps with sound.

Here is another vid I made over the weekend at VIR, using just the suction cap mounted to my side window: You can bump it up to HD if you like. I filmed it in the 1080P highest resolution R5.

1 Attachment(s)
For windshield mounting the design for this camera is really bad. The attachment point for the case which holds the camera a too short. This design does not allow the camera to tilt so it can be aimed straight. This attachment point should be longer to allow the back camera case hinge to clear when tilting the camera. So adjustments to get the camera aimed straight must be made by adding several other adjusting parts. The camera mounts upside down with no problem but then the video has to be flipped. I'm really unhappy with a design that makes windshield mounting so difficult. Solving the problem would be an easy fix. Making the attachment point just 1/8 inch longer (see arrow) would correct this bad design.

Just mount it on the outside of the windshield...probably solved. The suction cup has held up for me to 172mph.

When they release the new firmware the upside down thing is a non-issue. The sad thing is that every place I have tried to mount the camera I end up with it upside down.

Yeah, not really.

I want the 'true' review. Someone to comment on build quality, durability, interface issues, etc etc.

After reading that, I'll buy it regardless of the review :)

think of it this way... most of what was not mentioned.. was not mentioned because it works fine.

- the bracket is weird and has some quirks
- the battery cover can rattle and eff up audio
- the HD version needs a new firmware to flip the video

otherwise it's great. exactly what's advertised. looks awesome on a 56" 1080p DILA

storage is actually better than advertised/expected. you can fit a lot of video on a 32gb card lol. i ended up throwing a lot of images from my camera on the same card and passing it around with a reader at my HPDE so people could get files. still walked away with only 60% usage or so.

the LCD viewfinder will be out soon and help with setup. an external mic is in the works as well and should help with any audio complaints. it will also allow a WP external mount with an interior mic thereby allowing different ways to set things up for your recordings.

it's really a good deal overall. if i'd seen what the camera was capable of before seeing the price i wouldn't have believed it cost that little.

I havent had any issues with mine. The beautiful of this thing, i not just the featureset, but the ease and simplicity of use. I have a whole pile of video cams in my drawer that collect dust because they are hard to mount, hard to use, difficult to download files, difficult to edit...etc...etc. That is what really pisses me off.

The GoPro simply delivers.

That vid is wicked, if I didn't know better I'd say I was watching Qualifying on ESPN for some race lol. Although sometimes it looks like its looking through an aquarium? Awesome quality though! You can really feel the speed when the wind kicks up.

Thanks man! The lense is very wide angle, which is the preference type of angle for motorsports.
