Default E85 and a 370Z

Any one done this yet....?
Once I start to log and see what current IDC's are I think if I have the headroom I will attempt the conversion, I see that already fuel system upgrades are avaliable in terms of pump, rails, injectors etc, but if possible with a 'stockish N/A' Z I may be able to get one on corn with out changing out too much.
Any one got any in put on running E85 with the Nissan motor?

I have completed the conversion on a few turbo charged vehicles but never on a V platform so think this would make a nice little project and give a nice little TRQ gain, and off course a few ponies.

Lower combustion temps, higher knock threashold, better octane and GREEN, + cheaper then race gas.

Cheers Fellas

Is there an E85 super-unleaded?

Even then, that stuff tends to eat anything not stainless steel...so...not happening.

That, and E85 isn't any better for the environment than dino-gas.

I am talking about running 100% E85 not pump with Ethanol additive.
E85 does not eat everything non stainless - I have run it with no adverse effects on a 'modern' motor, have many friends who are running it now and can point to many many cars who run it daily and at the track E85 100% in your tank is better for the enviroment then regular pump.
Do some research, not trying to 'bitch ' comment but really look it up.

BrazilBro - I will for sure post up when I convert, its not a big deal if the stock injectors have the headroom, if not enough spare IDC it will take longer as I will have to save for FP,FPR and injectors. The added timing avaliable and the leaner burn SHOULD yield good results.

Hm, how do you think all those Evo's and Civic's and such switch to E85? They change up the fuel system. All fuel lines are replaced with stainless steel line and then tuned. Also, you're misinformed about E85 not being better for the environment than gasoline. Either that or you know something I don't about it.

Just a side note , Any one on here going to turbo charge there Z and doing the fuel system anyway, go for the big injectors and go straight to E85 (providing its avaliable) works amazing on Turbo cars, tuners dream...

I had an evo and to run E85 all we do is upgrade the injectors and fuel pump.. thats it. and a flashed ECU.
Could care less about the enviroment. I just like cheap 100oct cool running gas

Nice, they sure do rip on the corn

LiquidZ - for sure, FI and E85 on this motor would be special, see ya GTR

If anyone is interested here are my fuel and timing targets from my last E85 ROM (FI motor) yes you can push the timing and run pretty lean in terms of target fuel (this rom was tuned for an AFR relative LAMBDA for ease of tuning with WBo2)

E85 would be cleaner burning ,cooler burning and give some gain even on N/A Z set up, how ever with FI you would see a great benefit over pump, the reason for larger injector etc is that you will need to actually flow 25-30% more volume to actually meet desired AFR target, from experience you obviously get less MPG but you fill up for less, c to mile it worked out about the same as pump on my previous ride, I love the smoothness of E, timing curves can be really set up nicely.

Ha ha - good enough - it does have some negatives... cold start can take some tweaking, it smells if running catless pipes, and hard to get some times.

Not the great answer to all for sure, I am just interested to learn a new platform.
Got to get my 'man' time away from the usual BS.lol
