Considering Uprev tune

So I'm considering an Uprev tune since I have access to a pretty good deal at the moment. I'm just trying to decide if it is worth it at this point. I only have drop-ins, post MAF tubes, and a muffler delete at the moment. I don't think it would make any huge gains but it would allow me to do a few things I want which are having tunes for different octanes, incresing rev limit, and a valet mode. That being said, if i do get the tune i was thinking of going with the following 5 maps: 1. Stock 2. 91 w/ 8k rev limit 3. 89 w/ 7k limit 4. valet 5. ??? What do you guys think?

IMO, not worth it till you add long tubes or test pipes and full CBE (or at least upgraded Y/H/X pipe).

Map wise, Stock, 93 (or 91 octane) performance tune, valet, anti theft. Raise rev limit to whatever you're comfy with and permanently turn of code for catalyst inefficiency or whatever it's called (so TP etc can't throw a code).

I don't see the point wiht different rev limits for different tunes, if you're on a stock map, just don't drive it hard (shouldn't anyway if you're fully bolted). 89 octane tune seems like a waste, stock tune is fine in case you find yourself in an area wiht bad gas, just drive under 4K rpm until you can get the good stuff.

I wouldn't get the tune quite yet. As FL 4motion said, wait until you have done more to the exhaust system. It will be a bigger bang for your buck.

If the different maps are really important to you, you could go ahead and get tuned ~$650. But you would have to pay for dyno and tuner time again after you added more bolt ons ~$200.

I have a question. I have an UpRev tune to 93 octane and I am moving to AZ next week where the highest octane is 91. Other then putting in an octane booster with each gas fill up what can I do until I am able to get it in somewhere in AZ for a added map of 91. Is running it on the factory map like it was said above and keeping it below 4000 rpm gonna be ok? Thanks!

That's what I figure, but with the deal I have access to even if I had to get a retune @ $200 it would still be about the normal price for. i.e. if I got Uprev and tunes+ a later tune it would be the same as if I got uprev and a tune w/o this deal I have. That's why I'm considering it even though I know it isn't absolutely needed just yet.

Well, I wasn't able to get on the dyno to see how my car is running but my friend got his Z up and it was running extremely lean. You could actually see where the engine was pulling timing. He has the Stillen G3 intakes with test pipes and muffler delete. I wish I could have run mine but hopefully later this week I can get on the dyno. And btw, my friend was making ~280-290rwhp, Not bad for being at almost 4k feet in elevation.

I'd say go for it. Unless you are planning to do heavy mods in the near future. Great way to pick up the low end you lost from the short tails then some. Or simply put your mind at ease knowing your AF ratio is good during WOT.

Stupid question but are our ECUs Able to be tuned or do all you guys have aftermarket ECUs?

UPREV provides a means to reflash the ECU and add tuned maps. Check out their website - UpRev - Engine Management

What's the going rate on a reflash?

Depends where you live and whether you get just a quick flash or an full custom dyno tune, but anywhere from $500-$750.
You can buy it direct from Uprev and get semi generic tunes through email or go to a protuner shop and get a full custom dyno tune, or buy the tuner version and do it yourself.

Knowing this you have to wonder how many shops just throw some generic Rom on your car.
