COBB Tuning AccessPORT Product Line Consolidation

COBB Tuning is announcing a restructuring of the AccessPORT product line in order to better align our internal resources with our core markets. Effective immediately, COBB Tuning is discontinuing development of AccessPORTs for the naturally aspirated Nissan 350Z and 370Z. Other naturally aspirated platforms affected by this restructuring include the Honda Civic Si, Infiniti G35 & G37, Mazda RX-8 and Subaru 2.5i & 2.5RS. Development for the Nissan GT-R is unaffected by this announcement. This refocus of resources and efforts will ensure that COBB Tuning can provide the high level of service each individual AccessPORT platform requires going forward.

This means that AccessPORT firmware, AccessTUNER (Pro and Race) software and Off-The-Shelf calibrations for the Nissan 350Z and 370Z have reached their final levels of development and customers may continue to use them in their current forms. AccessPORTs for the 350Z and 370Z will remain available for purchase for the next 30 days. AccessPORT hardware will remain under warranty 1 year from the date of purchase and repair services will remain available should your AccessPORT require service. COBB Off-The-Shelf maps and AccessTUNER software will remain available for download from the COBB Tuning website at their current version levels.

At COBB Tuning, we are committed to our customers' satisfaction with our products. In light of this change of product support, we are extending our AccessPORT Satisfaction Guarantee to 90-days from the date of purchase for the Nissan 350Z and extending it to 12 months for the Nissan 370Z. Please click on this link to learn more about our AccessPORT Satisfaction Guarantee.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this announcement, or you wish to learn more about COBB Tuning products, please contact one of our Customer Service agents at 801.713.0035 or support@cobbtuning.com.

What? wow this is not good news

STi 5 07-06-2010 02:29 PM

wow, just wow! I guess since you couldn't crack the VVEL, you just give up all together. I understand the idea of spreading yourself too thin, and how that is not great for business, but to just give up all together, I am stunned. I guess UPRev should be excited about having a monoply now. Watch prices go up up and away.

Not cool at all... :shakes head::shakes head:

I was planning on buying an AccessPORT VERY soon.. Now I'm not so sure about it...

Smart on their part I guess.. There really isn't much gain in tuning via piggy back systems on N/A platforms. Even the best map would get you maybe 10-15 WHP compared to 25-50whp or more on F.I. cars.

I have not installed my Cobb AP, but am still glad I got it, and would get it again for the 370Z. I did not want a crazy tune, just something to put me on par with the Nismo Z. I will continue to focus on weight reduction!!

damn

MMC Racing 07-06-2010 03:13 PM

Having bought the G37 AP only to find out after that it wouldn't work on a 2009 with 7AT trans, this only validates the lack of commitment to the platform for our vehicles. (This was BEFORE they listed it on their website as not working with my car). I lost $200 on the deal since it was dragged out with promises of supporting my car long past the return date - I ended up having to sell it to someone with a 6MT.

This will hopefully provide greater economic incentive for other companies to work on the G37/370z ECUs.
