RED - I would holdout for a bit on the custom tune till they have finished the time attack series, COBB are using this to test there new defs fully (or so I was told from a reliable COBB source).
That way you get the custom tune on the full set of variables.
To answer your original ? though, I have not been to Plano though know a few non Z guys who have and they have all been very happy, I believe Calvin Dotson (I stand to be corrected) is the tuner there and does good work, he was originally coached by Tim Bailey - that guy is a real decent brain.
I wish the Pro tuner license was a lot cheaper , **** I would hook you guys up for nothing via road tuning with LM-1 WB etc.

also keep in mind, AAM is selling them currently for 495 with a canned tune, from what i've been told, its not going to stay that way forever, so you might wanna jump on it now.

Are their "canned tunes" good for cars with only an aftermarket CBE or is it intended with cars with all air flow mods installed?

I suppose I can do that. Twould be nice if VVEL was unlocked by then. Thanks for the info/advice.

So if they can crack the vvel, what areas will be made available then to help us get more power?

Kastley85891 05-23-2010 11:03 AM

Would not share specifics with me but did confirm they are really 'testing' the tunes on the track, interesting to know that the track car uses tuned stock MAF's, as in stock intake boxes.

I am in no way a spokesman but have had a lot of dealings with them in different areas in the past, I respect a lot of the guys there.

So is the consensus to hold off until Cobb finishes their additional track testing? Or would you be able to download the updates after purchase?

Trese7en 05-26-2010 09:45 PM

I just pulled the trigger on the Cobb with the AAM competiton map, I'll do a dyno before and after I install it. I have a G37 though but the results
should be similiar since we're both VQ37HR.

That would be very cool. What mods do you have?

Trese7en 05-26-2010 10:54 PM

So far just, Injen CAI, GTM test pipes, and FI 18" catback. Im getting a pulley system soon but I don't think a tune would help with that so I decided to just get the Cobb now.
And the map is also for 93 octane, hope that helps a little more.

flashburn 05-27-2010 05:08 AM

Yeah, I also just bought the Cobb AP from AAM with a canned tune. I'll be getting an FI 18" CBE, HFC's, and I already have K&N Drop-ins. I'll be doing 3 sets of dyno runs to compare without the two exhaust mods, after, and after the tune is applied. I'll be sure to post the results.

Red370 05-27-2010 07:45 AM

awesome fellas, if you guys could post separate review/dyno threads under this topic when you're done that would be great.

Kastley85891 05-27-2010 09:42 AM

Nice to see all the comparos, Knives, you will be good with a canned map, if new areas of editing are released a firmware upgrade would cover it, my advice to wait was based of a full custom tune.

kielbasa16 05-27-2010 09:52 AM

Would someone mind providing a short description of what it means to crack the vvel and what this means in term of tuning?
