Just received my Accessport!

Ok, a few days ago I ordered an AP from AAM, when you purchase one from them they include a map tuned to your specific modifications, now while they cant get the tune right on because every vehicle is different, you apparently can still obtain some serious juice. I called them when I ordered and they asked me what I had done, and where I lived, elevation, etc.

Well I received it in the mail about an hour ago. I plugged it up and installed the map, took about 15 minutes total. The first thing I immediately noticed was the fact that the seatbelt light thats been driving me nuts for the past 2 months went out, it came on initially because I removed the passenger seat before the drags one night and hasnt went out until today, woo!. I was pretty stoked about that let me tell you.

At this point, I was so pumped that I didnt even lock my door or grab my wallet, I wanted to get this thing out on the highway. Now I have no idea whatsoever what kind of torque or hp was added, but i'll say this, I gained EVERY bit of low end torque that I lost from the Intakes/HFC/Exhaust combination. You guys have no idea how excited I am right now, and to think i'll even pull more power when I get tuned at Cobb in Plano in a month or two. So this thing does alot, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile, Dyno, and it will clear and read SES codes. Ok, done with the review, time to go out and try some more fun stuff with this thing, thanks Altered Atmosphere, you guys are awesome!

Sweet! Mine should be on its way too. Glad to hear its doing its job!

Red370 03-12-2010 06:02 PM

You're gonna love it mike! Quick question to anyone who knows, what software do I have to have to view the maps on my computer? It says its a .ptm file and I have no clue at all how to view the maps, or what i need to do.

DIGItonium 03-12-2010 06:03 PM

Are you able to get updated maps from them?

Also, what does it include? Higher rev limit, throttle programming, etc?

I'm not sure about getting more from AAM, but apparently this is the best tune you can get without having it dyno tuned by them personally. Apparently Cobb is going to be adding tunes to their website that will be available for download in the near future. Not sure about the rev limit or throttle programming either, I cant view the maps on my computer right now for some reason. How bout giving them a call? or you could check out the Cobb website, CobbTuning.com - Home Page

Ha, i did my first Cobb "dyno" pull, I made the goof of not compensating for my additional weight in the car and set the weight at 3232, and because I cant legally do any high speed runs, I set the dyno to begin in 3rd gear at 2k rpms and finish at 7k, Here are the results.. 312whp at 6525 rpms and 255 ft./lbs at 6057, now I was pretty happy with this because if i added my weight and did the pull in 4th or 5th gear up to 7-7.5k, the numbers would have been much much higher. Modified recently did a test on a handheld tuning device to see how accurate the digital dyno is and they were within +/- 2whp and same for TQ, not bad I say, NOT BAD AT ALL!! heres a pic, sorry for the quality but you can see the numbers.

I had that same problem...except it was the air bag light. I went to the dealership and they fixed it within a few seconds. I love my dealership, i told them the truth that i took the seat out for drag racing and they didnt charge me.

So the AP is defently worth getting?

drisko 03-12-2010 08:09 PM

I have absolutely no reason to doubt the accuracy or validity of that dyno!

Good to hear people are getting results. Man, I wish I could get that AAM tune. I currently just have FI high-flow cats and an FI exhaust though.

Worth every single penny my friend, especially since they were $700 a few months ago, you can get one from Altered Atmosphere tuned with your current mod list for $495 shipped, so far, I can feel every ft./lb I gained. Plus you get all those fun little bonuses as well (0-60, 1/4 mile timer, dyno, code reader/reset) and the tuneability for the future, Twin Turbo, Supercharger, etc. Get one, you wont be sorry.

Did you notice a loss in low end torque when you added the cats/cbe? I felt like I lost the low end, but gained in the mid and upper range. When I reflashed this afternoon, I gained every single bit of that back and then some. I wouldnt be surprised if I gained 20+ ft./lbs and 15whp. They can tune your car with just those mods man, give them a call.

kdoske 03-12-2010 10:08 PM

Sounds awesome.

Zsteve 03-12-2010 10:18 PM

you can go to cobbs web site and they have some maps to download. valet, stock and one other right now. Red do you have a copy of the stock tune on the access port? Ill be calling you aroun 9 am if thats not too early to get these HFCs on.

Endgame 03-12-2010 10:27 PM

Dumb question.. Could a map be created for just CAI and CBE (no HFCs)??

yes

Lemers 03-12-2010 10:42 PM

I'm impressed. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Vegasboricua 03-12-2010 10:43 PM

Another super dumb question. Im totally new to this "accessport" How does it hook up to your car? Would someone like me who has relitivly no automotive experience be able to tinker with this?

Hooks up to your OBD port under your steering wheel, take a look under there when you get a chance, you'll see a white female plug in. You plug into that, and your accessport will start installing itself, just load the map that was created for you, unplug it, and enjoy the new balls out power.

Just tell them what u have done and they do the rest.

Vegasboricua 03-12-2010 11:00 PM

Very nice. I take it this is only effective with some mods like I/H/E?

AAM has a tune for every mod, whether you just have G3's, or just HFC's, or even just a CBE, or any combination of the 3 or more. Best $500 you can spend on this car if you dont plan on going forced induction any time soon. Clint estimated i'd pick up 20 or more ft./lbs of tq, and I can definitely tell I picked up every bit I lost on the low end. Havent opened it up too much yet so the ol' butt dyno cant tell if i picked up any noticeable hp gains, but i definitely feel the power.

Red370 03-12-2010 11:08 PM

Just look at my lil dyno thing, that wasnt even done properly and look at the power, I guarantee i'm easily over 320whp

Vegasboricua 03-12-2010 11:23 PM

Hmmmm....intresting...Ill probably tinker around with this when I get my bolt ons in. Are the maps free for life?

not sure about AAM's maps, but every single map that Cobb eventually creates will be free on their website for download.

Vegasboricua 03-12-2010 11:32 PM

Very nice! Going to have to add this to my list of things to buy! lol

Red370 03-12-2010 11:38 PM

you wont be sorry bud.

Vegasboricua 03-12-2010 11:41 PM

I'm sure I wont be.

Sounds promising. The ECU tweaks will be the last thing I'll do after a few more minor engine mods. In the meantime, I'll wait to see what else they can unlock and offer for downloads. How's the 2.5k RPM lag?

bluestyle55 03-13-2010 08:04 AM

Glad to here your just as pleased with the Cobb and Altered Atmosphere that I am!!! It’s incredible how much the Access Port helps the mid and low end tq. It’s been a little over a week since my tune and I still get all excited when I get on it and feel the additional power. :excited: :driving: :excited:

AA told me that they usually only bump the Rev limiter + 200RPM’s (being conservative for safety). I told him that other tuners were raising to 8100 so he raised mine to 7900. To be honest though you start loosing tq around 7200 so I will probably have them lower is a little…maybe to 7700.

I have not had a chance to play with the HP estimator on the AP. I will report back on how close it was to my actual tune.

I did try the 0-60 estimator two times but I only get 5 seconds. It’s still really cold in PA and my tires can’t grip well for a good launch. Haha…my 2nd gear spins hardcore :)

TonyBPD 03-13-2010 09:59 AM

I have not done any research or anything regarding tuning with the 370Z so this may be a stupid question. I assume this can be removed if need be to go to the dealer for service/warranty work?

It is removed as easily as it is installed. Just unplug the unit after a map is uploaded. One of the maps is the stock map

Red370 03-13-2010 01:53 PM

Ok, did another dyno today with the corrected weight of the car and here is what I managed to do:

333whp and 271 ft./lbs at 6600 RPM's, talk about a confidence booster man

DIGItonium 03-13-2010 06:05 PM

Did you do a before/after run with the AP? I'll probably wait until summer to get the AP after getting the intake mods and pulleys done. Hopefully there will be some new developments.

No I didnt, would have been nice to see the total gains, but basically every mod that i've added has been optimized because of it. I'm very happy with it.

Liquid_G 03-13-2010 07:22 PM

so does the AP from AAM come with like the valet and kill tunes along with the custom one?

vortrex 03-13-2010 07:29 PM

ordered mine today. I'll be sure to do before after tests using the AP.
