Default Ecutek and Dyno tune cost?

I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to car mods and such. Anyways I got my Z about 3 months ago and plan on doing a few mods. With that said I contacted a local shop about installing an FI exhaust and FI high flow cats and they said they will need to tune the car to make sure it I don't get any CEL codes.

So I'm wondering if the following is a fair price?

Ecutek license : $300
Programming kit, dongle and cable: $350
Tuning labor/dyno tuning (up to 3 hours): $650

That 650 tuning cost must include the labor for installation of exhaust too...?

Tuning your car to make sure you don't get cel codes is a boatload of baloney. You don't get cel with a proper install. If you plan on more breather mods hold off on the tune. Price wise 650 for the tune is fair.

He stated the Labor was 650, not counting the 650 for license & dongle etc....
I thought that was a bit much just for tuning labor.

No the 650 doesn't include the install. Install is like another $200.

And I was planning on holding off on the tune until I did other mods since this time it's just an exhaust but the 650 seemed like a lot to me that's why I was wondering.

If im reading this correctly, tuning could take up to three hours? And for 650?

Is it that bit long for a simple bolt mod to tune?
I know tuning cost varies, 100 to 140, from shop to shop

Yes the 650 covers just the dyno tune for up to 3hrs. And that's why I'm kind of questioning the price as it is a simple bolt mod.

You can pick up the bluetooth kit and dongle on Amazon. Why use the cable when you can get the full blueooth functionality and cable in one piece?

Wow, so the shop is charging roughly 216/hour for tuning.

Hope that wasn’t Jon@Z1 that quoted that.....I know he’s primarily an UpRev tuner; but can tun with Ecutek as well.

No it wasn't. I emailed Z1 about doing the work but never did hear back, guess I'll have to call when I get a chance. But I do live in the Woodstock area so was looking for a good shop that's close by.
