ECUTEK - Everything
===============================================
- ECUTEK Wiki for the 370z - =============================================== There are two different versions of ECUTEK software:
1. Off-the-Shelf Tune - Suitable for a 370Z/G37/Q50 w or w/o a cat-back exhaust and stock-sized intakes. - Price: $650 Features:
2. Custom Tune - RaceROM - Suitable for any modded 370Z/G37/Q50. - Fine-tune adjustments based on data logs generated while on dyno. - Price: $850 Features include all of the previous ^^, plus ++:
If the Custom features are something you NEED. Then tell your tuner you want THAT version. The Off-the-Shelf tune, does NOT include all features. =============================================== - ECUTEK Tips - =============================================== Make sure you have a good working relationship with the tuner you select.

Thanks for posting OP!

just wondering if you can transition from " Off The Shelf Tune " to " Custom tune " by just paying the difference in price and using the same tuning software kit?
Let say I am all stock now with Off the shelft tune, then after a few months , I decided to modify performance hardware and want a custom tune. |
Sean! if you're going to do this will you LMK how it goes? They REALLY alienated the Midwest! Not sure how that street tune works

Im headed to have PTuning tune and dyno my 370z on the 25th. Ill post the results and info.
PWR Mods are: NST Pullies, Gen3 CAI, Stillen Headers, Z1 HFC, Motordyne CBE, Z1 Int. Mani, Polished TBs. |
I am curious what they mean by adjustable traction control. I wonder if they are able to adjust it to allow a little more slip? Would be nice for those damp cold mornings since right now it is so invasive the first thing I do when I get in the car is turn it off.

yeah, I'm not boosted and anytime I drive hard my lights are flashing and it slows down the motor. Even if there is very minimal slip. Seems the VDC is VERY conservative. |

And yes, if you get the custom tune version you can have an adjustable-level traction-control system. Seems almost worth it just for that. *scratches chin I will def let the group know how the e-tune goes, presuming i find the $650 anytime soon. Just hope i'm not another beta tester for products. |
I've been etuned for a while and was not happy...more with the tuner tho but I'm not going to bash. I have heard of great results from Visconti tho

What's important to understand is EcuTek does not provide any type of Flash&Go / Basemaps / OFF-THE-SHELF maps like COBB does. All off-the-shelf maps for 370z that can be purchased from my website is something that I've personally worked on over the past two years. These tunes are designed for someone who doesn't have all their bolt-ons installed yet but want advanced logging ability, improved throttle response or some of the features like Launch Control / Flat Foot Shifting. I strongly recommend that when you finish purchasing all your bolt-ons that you get a custom tune. Several people have actually opted for custom tune right from the start, later if they add more mods there will be a small fee to update the tune. Not all EcuTek Dealers are going to offer services the same way I do, but from working with other platforms I found this approach to work the best for everyone. EcuTek's Custom Code called "RaceRom" includes both hard coded features like Map Switching, Valet Mode, Launch Control, Flat Foot Shifting, Gauge Hijack and something called Custom Maps. Custom Maps is exactly how it sounds, it's a blank map that can be re-purposed for different things - Flex Fuel , Boost Control, or Fuel System Fail safe. This is something that the tuner has to spend a good amount of time setting up correctly. To setup Flex Fuel you'll need about 5 custom maps, it's a lot of work and although EcuTek does provide some example data it still requires the tuner to know what they are doing.. There's no way for Tuner A's Flex Fuel setup to be the same as Tuner B's.. Tuner A might have a better approach to flex fuel or traction control - you just never know and to me that's the beauty of custom maps, flexible and makes the good tuners really shine. Advanced Custom Features like Flex Fuel, Traction Control, Fuel System Failsafes can be part of any custom tune, if your getting a tune from me it'll be at a added expense. Let me know if you have anymore questions John |

John, can you speak to the traction control feature? Is there anyway to disable the yaw sensor via tune? Many track people manually disable this sensor to get rid of "ice mode". This is done by physically pulling the yaw sensor harness. I would love to have a "track" map I can select that disables the yaw sensor and VDC at the same time. It should still keep ABS active though. Thanks. |

Yes I have built a desktop application that helps you manage both your Tune and Log files.. No searching for emails or trying to figure out where firefox saved your Tune file - everything is in Tuner Assist! As for the OEM Traction Control, EcuTek has figured out how to disable the factory traction control system on some of the ROMs... If anyone is having to unpug a yaw sensor to prevent traction control from working this might be something to have your tuner to try.. If it's not defined on your ROM I'm sure a case can be made to EcuTek to have them look for the needed Maps in the ROM John |

Maybe the current RaceRom traction control already disables it???? If you can figure out a way to disable the yaw sensor via a map that would be a big win. |

So John, my only mods are 10 Ibs weight loss , 17" lighr rims (17.5 Ibs) and a pair of Pro dry air filter. If i get the custom tune, do I have a free 1 year update or etune when I added bolts on pars within that year ? How much do yoy charge to retune after new bolts on added?
|

We also will update the tune if EcuTek has improved some kind of feature or datalogging. This doesn't mean we retune you every time you add parts, I would love to promise something like that but I would quickly go out of business working for free! For anyone who has purchased a custom tune and wants their tune refreshed they can purchase a "tune update" on our website Let me know if you have anymore questions John |
So am I understanding this right, with ECUTEK I can't physically change or tune anything myself, I just gather data logs that are sent to a tuner who then makes a tune for me? Is there any options where I can have access to the software myself, if for example, I have experience tuning with similar software or know a tuner who is not yet an official ECUTEK 'master tuner'?

Only an EcuTek dealer who has purchased the tuning suit can edit 370Z maps. John |
I see, thanks for clearing that up for me, I appreciate it.

I am curious about the " Guage Hijack " feature. Do all ROM have this? I am more interested to see AFR on my dash... (Q40 awd sedan)
|
Just got a full tune yesterday from Ptuning using Ecutek and love it Car is completely different and all the small mods finally make sense and perform. Check out Ptuning or Visconti. You will not be disappointed!
|
So for the G37x sedan , what is the ideal safe redline RPM to hit the fastest 0-60 on 1st and 2nd gear only. Is this Per gear max RPM feature applicable to the sedan like my 2015 Q40? I will soon get the ECUtek kit and I still need to ROM Dump..

One of my friends got a re-tune with EcuTek.. There were increasing gains as you go higher in the rev range. He also noted the car was more responsive.
