So Finally did it

I bought EcuTek and going to Etunes with Viscotti. I when finished I will go back to my dyno and get pulls done. Same car same mods only thing changing is the software lets see what happens.

BTW UPREV and my tuner are awesome something I have wanted to see for over a year and no one else did it so why not me LOL

lj909 06-05-2015 04:04 PM

Awesome. Keep us updated. I'm not tuned yet and I'm getting an itchy finger to get it done.

Asheth 06-05-2015 04:40 PM

Super subbed!

visconti 06-05-2015 05:51 PM

madwi 06-05-2015 06:22 PM

Will be watching this and tommygun's tune coming up.

ANMVQ 06-05-2015 10:06 PM

Hey guys got all my tracking info from John so it's on its way , props for only wanting 2nd and 3rd gear runs to get the logs also. Maybe just maybe I can get this squared away by the 13th ( have a dyno scheduled for pulls) won't promise anything as I know it will take him time to dial the car in but I will have a side by side comparison ;)

ANMVQ 06-06-2015 07:38 AM

Holy crap it's going to be here today , going flash the base map in and start this going!

ANMVQ 06-06-2015 11:01 AM

It's here dumping my ECU now

ANMVQ 06-06-2015 11:20 AM

ECU dump sent off ;) getting excited

madwi 06-06-2015 11:39 AM

ANMVQ 06-06-2015 02:58 PM

Going out in about an hour to grab some logs for John. (Finishing some cabinets)

elperuano 06-06-2015 04:20 PM

Good luck this time around!

madwi 06-06-2015 08:02 PM

Got it, thank you for the info.

ANMVQ 06-06-2015 08:27 PM

Yea well see , feels differnt that's for sure but not a lot of drive time , been running out to get logs and come back , doing some work on the house at the same time.
ECUTEK has like double the fields !! Just looking at the log tables there's SO much more there

Elmo370z 06-06-2015 10:21 PM

Can't wait to see how much more power you make

warpeacelove 06-06-2015 10:49 PM

Tommyguns how was your experience? any updates?

MyZ4U2C 06-06-2015 10:52 PM

are you thinking of going to import auto clinic? If you do let me know how it goes. I ended up doing an etune with seymore

Elmo370z 06-07-2015 01:46 PM

Mmmmmmmm.mmm

Elmo370z 06-07-2015 01:47 PM

What do you charge for tunes and making a round trip. Say i got 5 cars together i live in the Tampa area. Plus how much do you want in your pocket?

ANMVQ's fueling during wide-open-throttle was a little more than 10% out with the first map I sent.

The car appears to be very happy, zero knock !

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps1n7as2uq.png

On the second revision I added a little more than 5% fuel and you can see the Air Fuel is now closer to it's target.

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...psjjo2meif.png

Revision 3 should be much closer !

How's the car feel compared to the UpRev Tune?

Leroydsouza 06-08-2015 01:02 AM

Shucks.
I was enjoying their arguments haha. We should totally have a "fights among members" thread. I get really bored at work.

Good Luck OP. Subbed for your results anyway.

ANMVQ 06-08-2015 06:41 AM

Hey John,

Thanx for posting these up. The car feels good but still only have really one full day of driving including the morning drive to work. A quick "butt" feel is the cars throttle response and part throttle doesn't feel as smooth as UPREV ;/. Part throttle-- there seems to but a little back and feel before the car smooths out ( Nothing crazy) and the throttle response feels a bit delayed( On the UPRV the car really felt VERY close to a drive-by wire) The WOT pulls I have done feel a bit harder but its really hard to say. The shifting feels about the same but the shifts felt a bit firmer with UPREV :/. Not sure we've done anything with the line pressure yet?

I know we are still working through things so I'm sure we will iron these out for sure :). I really LOVED that I could see knock and see it was ZERO! I was looking through my logs when I had a few free minuets while working on the house this weekend.

ANMVQ, were you using my 370z / g37 modified throttle table that I made, not wstar. The last one I gave you?

I wonder if the EcUtek has throttle table like the uprev were you can tweak it, if not there is no way it will be like my Uprev throttle Map response.

I was using your lastest throttle map you sent me. I'm working on rev5 tomorrow so we'll see! Getting one day closer to Saturday is getting me

Good luck ! Pls. update us!

Have you ran your X in the 1/4 mile ( want to see the ET) I am torn between a used 2013 G37x sedan $22k with 22.5 k miles vs 2016 WRX. The price difference is about 8 grand and I already tested the reliability of the VQ. Test drove the 2015 WRX and it is definitely push me back to my seat, but in a very short time 2k-5k rpm. I could feel hitting a wall pass 5k rpm, unlike the G it keeps goin! The G sedan x is about 500 IBs heavier than the wrx.

Not sure how reliable the WRX after 50k miles. BTW, stock 2015 WRX only dyno at 210 HP, but it is 500 Ibs lighter..

G37x sedan combined MPG is 18-19
WRX is 23-24 combined.

I have a 15WRX and 14FXT which have the same motor..

I've owned the FXT for 2 years and the WRX for a year.. have a combined 80k miles..

Both vehicles abused for R&D... I love love love both of these cars.

The WRX is manaul and under powered stock..FXT doesn't feel bad because the of the CVT.210 HP.. that sounds like low low mustang numbers.. When people are talking power numbers they normally discuss 'dynojet' like numbers.. The new WRX makes 250-260 STOCK.. with a flash they pickup 30whp.. I'm not sure what these Gs do in the 1/4 but the wrx isn't anything impressive and I know the G will smoke the wrx on the highway.. I'm seeing 20-30MPG on our cars but some people have reported higher.

They are both very different cars.. I mean the WRX has improved in everything, even the interior but it's no G or Q!

visconti 06-09-2015 08:55 AM

Here's what revision #4 looks like.

Car is no longer super lean.. just a tad rich so I need to take a little fuel out during higher load / WOT.

For those of you wondering, I've personally seen no performance gain worth running the car 12.9AF

These cars actually like a little fuel in the upper rpms, which is why you'll see me commanding more fuel as the RPMS increase

http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...psqurabujq.png

A few more tweaks and then we can start working on a few other things

I havent run mine YET, I will when all this is done. I had a WRX but and 02 :/.liked it for about 6 months , wasnt my cup of tea. I can agree with John about the interior on the G or Q( wifes car) is nicer IMO also. Being a little older the refined interior is good for me. When or IF I leave Infiniti it will be for a German car( Audi , BMW) .

gbrettin 06-09-2015 11:17 AM

Subbed for results. I've been thinking about ECUTek in the near future.

Visconti - I have a ZEX nitrous system. Let me know if you get the details worked out in a PM.

Thanks for the input! I test drove the 2015 STI and WRX and I could feel that the WRX pushes me to my seat more at lower RPM, both with 2 passengers around 300IBS combined. I did no rev to the top of RPM band of the STI so I really do not know if it will hit a wall at 5k RPM.

The new WRX looks modern - finally the interior is decent compare to the 2014 model and I like the subtle look from the side too. Regarding the G37x sedan, it is a heavy car so it does not feel very peppy, unless the RPM is pass 3k. 3 years from now, the look of the G37x is way outdated.
Even today, it is a bit outdated compare to the new cars coming out.

The G definitely has a better highway end power and a. 100MPH is nothing for this car.
I cannot think of anything else that perform like the WRX or G37x that is worth 24 grand.

I have a 2008 EX35 AWD infiniti and it will be out of warranty on Sept. next year. I just had my timing cover chain leaks repaired under warranty for $2,800. I really cannot keep a high mileage luxury car with no warranty.

I wonder if it is worth putting a COBB stage one on the 2015 WRX ? Just to have a better top end and smooth everything out. Is this going to be quick enough for DD?

I really do not trust German cars nowadays. I probably going to lease it than buy it. (Under warranty) My cousin works as a tech at the BMW dealership and he does not recommend it to us. Parts are very expensive too!

I had a loaner Q50 AWD last month and also a Q50s AWD Hybrid 2 weeks ago. The gas one did not impress me, but the Hybrid is a blast to drive! That thing is a rocket! Very fast and effortless on the highway. From dead stop (half brake press, so it will not go to EV mode) it catapult you from 0-60 MPH in around 4.7-4.8 secs. quietly..... =)

Awgd8 06-09-2015 06:01 PM

ANMVQ, hope you"ll find what you lookin for from the ECUTek!

If you have more cooler months weather in your state you drive in, would it be beneficial to setup the AFR leaner? Low 13's and 12.8-12.9 for hotter state?

I just noticed how my data logged AFR changes on cooler months vs hotter months using the same tune in UPREV.
