Default How to find out if your car is tuned?

This may be a very odd question but when i bought my Z i bought it from an auction and i didnt meet or talk to the previous owner.. i have never driven any other Z. My Z has quite a few mods and from what i think is with these mods you would need a tune.. My question is, is there a way to find out if my car is tuned or not?

You could try to change maps if it's using uprev. Press and hold cruise control button while flicking up or down on accel/res

From another thread.

How does map switching work?
Using the Cruise Control Buttons...
-Hold the set/coast toggle down
-Press "Cancel" once for map 1, twice for map 2, etc...
-Then release the set/coast toggle.
-When you release the toggle, the cruise "SET" light on the dash will blink once for map 1, twice for map 2, etc...

Does it work the same way with EcuTek or is that still just a one map system? I forget where they are with that software A) cuz I don't have it and B) because they made a bunch of promises up front and took forever to start delivering

Tried it on mine and it did nothing and my cruise control works fine! I'm not tuned, but just wanted to see how it works.

Hold cruise control cancel button down for a second and the tach needle will jump to 1000 rpm for map 1, 2000 rpm for map 2, etc., showing you the map that is currently being used. You can then use the accel/coast switch to toggle between maps. I've got four maps with EcuTek at the moment, plus valet mode.

UpRev and EcuTek are the most popular tuning options so one of the methods given above should work.

Another, more complicated, way to tell is to look at some of the tables that tuners change from factory settings. If you see some non-OEM numbers, you have a tune.

If all else fails, contact UpRev and EcuTek. IIRC, the tune is paired to the unique ECU in the car and they may have records.

Edit: Or go to a smog check place. They can usually tell if the ECU has been changed and exhaust gases will probably be out of spec.

The best way to know it is to search what the majority of tuner shop set their Valet Map or Security Map to...

MAP4 ? RPM bounces back and Forth above 3K RPM etc.
MAP5 ? Car will not start.

Done! Problem solved!
Some car like mine does not show any blinking light at all when I switch map. That is the reason why Seymore4 designed my MAP2 as valet. I was not sure if I was switching maps back then, so I would check MAP2 -valet to make sure I am changing it.

BTW, eventhough I have Uprev, I could still use my cruise control and it's full features.

i will be putting my Z on the road tomorrow so ill be able to play around with the maps, that way i can figure out what is what. also i believe there is something wrong with my clockspring i explained what was going on with my cruise control to a friend that works at a local shop and he thinks there could be somthing wrong with the clockspring.

your cruise control does not work because the tuner turned off ur ETC(electronic throttle control) due to this the actual cruse control cannot set ur throttle by map, cuz its OFF. Although ur probably asking "well if its OFF how do i still press gas and drive?" well the ETC turns off the map not the actual throttle, the throttle it self is now 0-100% depends on how far u press where be4 it was nurfed like -100 to 34,000(-1-92%) as an example.

also the maps r unknown example:

map1 might be regular driving
map2 racing
map3 valet rpm topped @3k rpm
map4 does not start car, could be a map as a secondary anti-theft
map5 stock

these r just speculations, but ppl do this.
