Backfire after tune?

Well I called an UpRev tech. He said its not possible to "cut" ignition. I can only delay/retard it. He said if the car shifts at 7,500 you can run it rich from 6,500 to 7,500 and have a delayed/retard ignition and it would send most of the unburnt fuel down. It won't be as big as a complete fuel cut. But it's safe because you still have an delayed ignition and fuel cut. Fuel cut being the 7,500 rev limit obviously. That's what he told me word for word. So where your map shows "ignition cut" I can't do that I can only delay it so it ignites later and sends a decent amount of gas into the exhaust. But there will still be som fuel ignited. But will still allow plenty to safely enter exhaust. What software are you using to have an actual ignition cut?
