I'm using a set of 18" base model (made by Enkei) wheels to autocross with.

If your car has the Sport Package, then the base model wheels aren't technically legal in C-Street class, which I think is what glw was trying to tell you.

They're not the same width (each is an inch skinnier than the 19" wheels), and the rear does not have enough offset to be within 1/4" of the 19" wheels.

That being said, unless you're going to go to nationals (and probably even if you did) I doubt anyone will care, particularly since you gave up an inch of width on both ends.

Got it.....as slow as I run it really don't matter. One of the local rules about classes is, they are too concerned about mods until you start beating someone who cares. I've still got a long way to go before that happens.

I do appreciate to info, just so I'll know, what class would that actually put me in?

Has anyone found some reasonably priced 18" wheels that are street class legal that will fit on a sport model? It seems like there are plenty of 18" Mustang wheels that may fit.

TECHNICALLY, as silly as it sounds, I think with the tires you currently have you go all the way to A Street Prepared. The reason you skip past Street Touring is that the 370 is currently classed in STR, which has a maximum tread width of 255, but you said you have 265s on the rear. STR also has a maximum wheel width of 9", which you comply with.

Not really... and I looked a lot. I wasn't really considering anything that was heavier than the stock Rays though. I imagine if you don't have that requirement then you can probably find options.

I almost pulled the trigger on some Advan RGIIIs, but with their price, and not being able to test fit them before custom ordering a set with the wonky front offset that is required by the rules, I decided to just stick with the stock 19" Rays. I took a lot of measurements and spent time on the phone with the NA Advan distributor having them take measurements of the wheel, and I feel pretty confident that they would fit.

The difference in price on RS3 V2s is $100 a corner for 18s compared to 19s, so even with moderately expensive wheels, you're saving $400 per set of tires so it won't take long for them to pay for themselves.

Okay.....did my 4th event today and ran in C Street (did not run novice) finished 2nd, 1.2 seconds behind. I had absolutely no traction. I guess I'm going to pony up and order tires. On Tire Rack I can get the RE-11's in 245/275 for $906 + shipping or the Hankook R-S3, but can only get a 235 for the front (same 275 for the rear) for $760 + shipping. I'm putting them on base model 18" wheels (8" front, 9" rear). I would really like 255's for the front but can only get a 255/35 and I need at least a 255/40.

Is the difference in the fronts width worth the difference in price?

Well if they will be for a second set of wheels then it doesnt matter anyway as the autox places are usually pretty flat. Thats assueming you would change them at the event. But if you drive them to the event then i can understand your worry. Buy a cheap small trailer from CL and tow the tires there or find a supprt vehicle to follow you there, wives/ GF's work great

If you can find a tire with a lower profile it may help your gearing. I ran rubber bands on my 240 when I tracked it and the gearing was awesome.
