This is correct.

A 3/8 to 3/8 hose union would connect them (cut off the quick connectors, they are cheap and can be replaced later).

When looking at the RRP, reading from left to right with the hose ports facing you, the first one and the next one.

patabq 09-19-2015 12:07 PM

I got it running, but if I connect the tank at top to seal and stop the rrp from flopping the hose kinks. I just cut 1 and attached to 2 nipple. I will go get the union and cut 2.

phunk 09-19-2015 01:11 PM

are you sure the pump in the RRP died and that its not just a wiring issue? Those pumps are pretty reliable

patabq 09-19-2015 08:17 PM

Long day.
I checked the V at the tank side, but could not check the pump itself. It is possible it was the connector. I will check that tomorrow
I did get on Sears Point in the afternoon.

phunk 09-19-2015 08:30 PM

Glad to hear you got the car running and still were able to run it. Too bad about not getting to test the RRP though!

patabq 09-21-2015 09:16 AM

Thanks Coyote and Phunk. Very busy weekend. I finally checked the pump this morning and it is bad. Put it directly to the battery and nothing. For once it wasn't my wiring.

Phunk - is the pump under warranty?

On a separate note, my brake light fuse blew. I don't know how. It led to the loss of ABS and with old Toyo R888's I kissed the wall in the turn 11 hairpin. It's over 100mph to about 25. The corner worker was impressed I could drive away. Two earlier in the day did not. I only have a little paint loss in both front and rear fenders. The rear might even rub out. I replaced the fuse with a 15amp instead of 10. Crossed fingers.

phunk 09-21-2015 09:35 AM

The Walbro pumps do have a manufacturer warranty but they are a bit of a hassle to deal with... They actually charge a deposit to test the pump, and refund it later. Yours is a newer install right, I believe you even mentioned to me the pump is louder than expected? I would just assume send off a pump to you and handle the warranty on my end so you don't have to wait around.

patabq 09-21-2015 10:04 AM

Thanks Phunk. Other than this trip of 1000mi, the pump had less than 200mi on it. I will deal with this next week when I get home after running Miller in Tooele - again crossed fingers.

phunk 09-21-2015 10:47 AM

Sorry about that. I have sold hundreds of that part number pump (its the same one used in our twin pumps) but this would be maybe the second or third I have seen bad, and possibly the first to fail almost immediately. This is why I wasnt too worried when you mentioned it seemed loud to you; much like a doctor is to their patients, I am partially desensitized to people telling me a pump is loud because years of selling has me adapted to it usually not meaning anything is wrong.

Pulled all the bolts/nuts from the top off the RRP and used fuel friendly RTV on all of them. That stuff makes a mess, but seems to have done the trick.

Had a thin film of gas on top of the RRP cover. Passenger side was fine.

Should be mandatory as part of install.

Coyote 09-21-2015 04:55 PM

RTV?

Yup it is recommended for every installation. Any of them without thread sealant is going to wick fuel through the threads.

CJM Fuel Starvation Control Product, Round 2

With my new Toyo RA11s on I'm starving 2dots over half tank. I can't wait to get this pump on over the off season.
(I'm having too much fun now to pull her out of service)

You need boost. And I'm surprised that the GT40 wasn't black flagged for the smoke.

SurfDog 09-23-2015 10:04 PM

It was a private event. No flags. Those classic racers all smoke a bit. That was actually why I was chasing him to help diagnose the smoke. We think maybe his breather was splashing a bit onto his exhaust.

SurfDog 09-23-2015 10:07 PM

As for boost. I dunno man. I push pretty hard and the cooling air is thin up here. Most FI guys have problems with overheating after a few laps up here at altitude. Believe me IV considered it

clkio 09-24-2015 09:18 AM

Hi phunk, when is the next batch going to be ready bro? I am working on 700WHP and I am thinking I need that PUMP! I don't want to spend all that money on the build and run into fuel starvation. Also, I am assuming a retune wont be needed if I have to go with a different fuel pump temporary until I get yours?

phunk 09-27-2015 11:30 PM

I could start another batch soon probably. Slow season is coming up so it wouldn't be a bad time to get some made. The RRP doesn't effect the tune.

clkio 09-28-2015 06:01 PM

Let us know buddy and count me in for one!

gmsuperfan 09-29-2015 03:54 PM

@phunk - i would be in on this next batch as well. I've fuel starved 3x over the last two months and was left stranded this weekend. Please keep us posted if you plan on rolling through another batch!

phunk 09-29-2015 04:15 PM

I am putting in a material order before the end of the week, I will go ahead and get material for another batch of RRPs on the way.

Rusty 09-29-2015 04:38 PM

Think that you should make this a stock item. Keep a couple of them on the shelf.;)

I will probably do that this time, unless they all sell out before being done again

Zauskycop 09-30-2015 05:49 AM

I think he needs more shelves! (Have seen his shop!)

Unfortunately the G gas tank is not deep enough for this

I like the hell out of this!

derraj06 10-13-2015 10:06 PM

Just let me know what I owe to get on the next build list. I will need this next year for certain.

phunk 10-16-2015 08:11 PM

When it goes official, should I start a new thread or keep it going in this one?

New thread. Think that would be easier for everyone. ;)

derraj06 10-18-2015 04:32 PM

Also agree new thread, this one is a bit lengthy at this point.

ban25 11-18-2015 03:42 PM

Any update on when we can expect Round 3? I don't want to miss this one!

phunk 11-18-2015 04:17 PM

Material is stacked up by the CNC, I am finishing up some other parts in the CNC and hopefully can start on the RRP parts in the next 2 weeks. As soon as the first piece starts cutting, I will start the new thread and post a link to this one.

This is excellent news. I am actually working through my build plan for 2016 with my shops and this was the biggest question on the timeline. Let me know when you need a deposit?

patabq 11-19-2015 08:36 AM

Update on my pump. It was bad. It made lots of noise, especially when hot, and at about 1000mi it just stopped.

Phunk backed it up and dealt with Walbro for me. He installed a new pump and all is well. Very low noise now.

Thanks Phunk.

phunk 11-19-2015 03:37 PM

Glad to hear all is well... sucks about that first bad pump. We use that same model Walbro pump in all our 350z twin pumps and I think that is the first one that was defective after all these years! Thank you for your business!

hjo1078 11-29-2015 12:25 PM

charles let me know when the next batch is available. Would i be able to take the pumps off my old twin pump setup ?

As addressed in our text message conversation today, there are several options for configuring!
