Default Rear Tow Hook? (Similar to Nismo Turnkey)

So I'm aware that the 370z stock does not have a place to mount a rear tow hook, but me being a track addict, I would like to someday install one.

I'm in the process of converting to a Nismo body kit. I already have the front bumper and side skirts and soon to acquire a rear bumper. And while i'm at it I would like to take advantage of this time to cut neccessary holes, etc to mount a rear tow hook like the Nismo 370z Turnkey as shown.

Has anyone tried or have installed a rear tow hook? Can someone let me know where would be a good place to mount it? I can custom fabricate something but I'd like to know where's a good location to weld or bolt it to.

Anyone have a picture of a 370z without a rear bumper?

Thanks!

The Z does have a place to install the a tow hook in the rear, under the square panel in the rear bumper.

Really? Is it the cover above the rear reflector light?

Actually I was wrong. There is nothing under there. Typically there is but for whatever reason there is a square but no threads behind it.

There are however two tie downs that are in the back under each side but the manual says they shouldn't be used for towing. I bet you those back tie downs could be used to get you out of a tire wall however, which is pretty much the only reason they might tow you from the rear.

Yea, I didn't think that cover was for the tow hook. My intention is to try not use those 2 tie downs for towing purposes. If possible, is like to install a dedicated tow hooks like the turnkey one. I just need to know a good solid spot to install it.

Is it safe to assume that nobody has one installed one?

I believe it is a tow hook but in japan only.... we just don't have the bar threaded... you could easily take the crash bar off and have one welded a piece and thread it...?

Check out this post on a 350z site. It has the thread and pitch and has some good ideas as well.

Just did some more fact finding and you are right. Newer Nissans moved to M24.
