I'm running Hoosier A7's in ASP.

Gotcha, that makes sense then.

For anybody looking to modify their car from stock to ST or SP or SSM, I've got most of the parts you need, all of them barely used:

Shameless plug for the car too: http://www.the370z.com/370z-sale/116...3-500-obo.html

For those of you that are trying to get the 370Z moved from STR to STU and haven't heard about the new push to open up boost limits in the ST classes, you might want to start writing your letters opposing it now.

Long story short, since it's not possible to verify the boosted cars aren't altering their boost control via ecu tuning there is a big push to allow open boost for the turbo cars in the ST classes. If this goes through you'll end up with STU being spec boost buggies which obviously would hurt the 370Z if it ever gets moved there.

How do you feel about the notion that allowing them to increase boost without allowing them to increase injector or tire size wont net them enough of a benefit? I spoke to a local stu competitor who estimates he will only be able to get an extra 15 hp unless he is allowed to supporting fuel mods.

Was talking to a past STU national champ out at nationals who's familiar with both the boost buggies. According to what he was saying, the STI won't gain much but the Evo's will gain quite a bit. This was based on him tuning a STU Evo at one point and then for grins playing with the boost tables to see the difference.

The other thing to consider is the area under the curve. Just because the car doesn't have huge gains up top doesn't mean the usable power and torque don't increase dramatically.

Yikes... this comes with me just finally getting my email that they're considering the letter I submitted (I'm sure along with others letters as well). I'm crossing my fingers to be able to throw a set of 285 RE71R's on next season and go to town with a nearly fully built STU car, but this would definitely cause problems nationally. Thanks for the heads up Gomer. Still crossing my fingers for STU as of now...

If somebody drafts the letter I'll send one in. I just hope they make one change at a time: let the z in, see how it does, if it's dominant then let the awd guys have boost next season.

gomer_110 10-05-2016 06:59 AM

I sent a letter in a couple weeks ago although it was hastily written so I wouldn't recommend anyone copy it. The short version of it was that if the boosted ST cars want to adjust boost tables then they need to go run in SP.

Honestly, as there is no good way to enforce the current "no adjusting boost" rule in ST the SEB will most likely act on that quickly.

Season closing event is tomorrow. It will be my second full season in the Z. I was really happy with the way the car drove but I know I need to make some improvements. For me I would like to try square 285 RE71 and a smaller front sway bar in the off-season. Once things get going I plan to buy some dampers, maybe midway through the season just for budget reasons.

What else is everyone planning on doing as things slow down?

Smaller front bar?
We run all year here so I just plan on putting these new tires to work

Smaller than what I have now which is the hotchkiss. One of our lots has a bit lower traction than the other so I wanna see how a smaller bar works out. I will probable do the tires first and go from there.

We have a winter series here that is a less competitive than summer. It's a good time to test things out.

Well we don't have a winter in Florida, so there is no slowing down, my local club just started it's 2016-2017 season. There was another 370z out there today, he got me by 0.3s but we both beat the viper that was out there :)

My new oil cooler worked great, and the new tires felt great too, I'm pretty happy with my setup right now, at least until my skills improve ;)
