I can't comment on specific car weights but I know there is a decent difference. I may be wrong, but I believe Doran has the lightest car in the series.

m4a1mustang 06-21-2012 03:01 PM

Ford advertises the 302-R dry weight at 3,050. No clue what actual race weight is when conformed to GS rules.

shadoquad 06-21-2012 03:05 PM

The C&D article on the Nismo RC put it at 2954 before whatever modifications Doran and/or Nissan may have done since.

Dwnshift 06-21-2012 03:06 PM

We are less weight than the v8s...but we are also the smallest NA engine in the field.
Our power has gotten better but there is a ways to go.
We also run less tire as well......
our stregnth are braking and handling esp over longer runs.
Getting ready to go out for ptc 2.

Good luck. Hopefully you guys get it dialed in and we can see it running up front on race day.

P2 is under way. Living Timing & Scoring here: GrandAm > LiveTimingScoring

shadoquad 06-21-2012 03:54 PM

Just saw Bryan hop from 15th to 8th. Nice lap!

m4a1mustang 06-21-2012 04:16 PM

One of the Camaros won P2. Doran came in 8th but must have been working on race run stuff. P3 tomorrow at 10AM EST!

Zoren 370 06-21-2012 06:41 PM

Hopefully you can beat does Camaro's!!!
Tough task but we know you can crack them up.

Dwnshift 06-21-2012 09:35 PM

Long day... many changes just trying to get it right.
Bryan got the stickers which netted about 1.5 seconds for him in the second session.
We kept him in the car for ptc to get him more seat time.
The track has been changing... the weather changing so lots of adjustments.
P3 is at 9 am tmrw and then quali will be right after.
Our weight is 2900 lbs smallest NA engine in the field and smallest tires 245 front 275 rear
V8 cars are all 3200-3350 275 all the way around.... All making 415-430 @ the wheels.
Porsche is the sleeper as the teams are running GTS engine and only have another 50 lbs over us.
I keep joking (but not really)... We could use more front bar!!!
And the current bar is massive!
I still haven't gone out on fresh tires.... Soo maybe tmrw am I will get Bryans 3 lappers.
;)
We are looking to be inside the top 6 for quali tmrw but we shall see.

Mike 06-21-2012 09:41 PM

why such small tires? Rules?

Dwnshift 06-21-2012 09:43 PM

Yuppers.... Make do with what u get ;)
Not too shabby

ChrisSlicks 06-22-2012 06:59 AM

Are you allowed to run 275's up front or do you have to appeal to make a change?

m4a1mustang 06-22-2012 09:05 AM

Final practice is under way!

The M3s are quick this morning.

b1adesofcha0s 06-22-2012 09:10 AM

Yeah I was noticing that as well.

b1adesofcha0s 06-22-2012 09:12 AM

Looks like there's a different driver in the Z today than yesterday.

BJ and Bryan both share the Z.

I realized that when I went back and looked at some previous posts.

sig11 06-22-2012 09:18 AM

Hrm.. Black flag the session after that yellow?

b1adesofcha0s 06-22-2012 09:21 AM

I was wondering what was going on.

Must have been big or they are just short on time. They have to get qualy in, the DP/GT cars have a practice session at 11:45, then the Nascar Nationwide cars get the track at 1 ET.

m4a1mustang 06-22-2012 09:39 AM

Qualifying in 6 minutes :)

b1adesofcha0s 06-22-2012 09:55 AM

I guess they are only doing the ST class right now.

Bryan just put a quick lap up... P2 currently.

Red__Zed 06-22-2012 10:33 AM

Something happen on track? First lap was super slow for everyone

m4a1mustang 06-22-2012 10:34 AM

Looks like that's it. Camaro on pole with Doran in P2. I was surprised no one dipped into the 23's since one of the M3s did it in P3. I guess it just warmed up a bit.

Good work, guys.

I think it's just a timing goof as everyone goes off to make their first lap.

sig11 06-22-2012 10:37 AM

Woo! Awesome! Congrats on P2! Give 'em hell tomorrow!

m4a1mustang 06-22-2012 10:38 AM

I think the race is actually tonight at 7:15 EST.

b1adesofcha0s 06-22-2012 10:39 AM

So what does doing good in qualifying get you? Better starting position for the race? Do only a certain number of the cars from qualifying actually get to race or do all of them end up in the race? Sorry, I'm pretty much a racing noob.

All of them race. Qualifying determines starting position.

Eh just weld a piece of angle iron from one side to the other :). Those big front sways (e.g. Hotchkis) really are one of the best handling mods for this car, even on our little street-legal vehicles doing HPDE runs.

Good luck tonight :)

m4a1mustang 06-22-2012 10:42 AM

solid front axle :icon17:

Great job in qualifying 2nd ! I kept hoping for one more lap to see them pop ahead of the Camaro :driving:

There are some other series that have a limited field where some cars might not be able to race. For instance if 50 cars show up to a NASCAR race, only 43 get to race since that's the limit for the full field.
