No, it is not required, but I would recommend getting it down to below 1/4 tank to prevent a big mess.

is there a drain? I can't go below 7/8 on track, and I don't have street tires to drive it on the street. I guess I can siphon it once I take the apparatus out of it.

phunk 07-16-2012 06:52 PM

^ you can just turn on the fuel pump and pump it into another car

:argue:

spearfish25 07-26-2012 09:33 PM

I'll have a different car by the time this product is ready.

SPOHN 07-27-2012 05:58 AM

It's been a long time coming. But its coming. Phunk just took some personal time off for a week.

trwe413 07-31-2012 02:45 PM

Put me down for one

I have a 2011 Nismo that I track regularly at Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, TX. The car is stock except for cold air intake, oil cooler, and adjustable camber in front and I usually run R compound tires.

If I don't top off between each 20-30 minute session, I will experience fuel starvation by the end of the second session. It only cuts out on one right hand turn and only for a couple of seconds, but that is a handicap I don't need. I don't even go to the track if they are running CW because I can't even make it through the first session!

Please put my name on the list. My preference would be the stand alone system if it will be ready soon and not significantly more expensive.

I suppose what I need to know is the price for both setups and timing of availability of each in order to make a decision.

SPOHN 07-31-2012 08:15 PM

Phunk Phunk Phunk Phunk

That's my Debit card calling.

dirTy_shoeZ 08-02-2012 06:47 PM

travisjb 08-02-2012 07:30 PM

Hey, these must have shipped out a few weeks ago... any feedback yet?

sig11 08-02-2012 08:08 PM

No word yet, travis. :(

cdoxp800 08-02-2012 08:50 PM

None have shipped yet that I know of.

threeseventy 08-02-2012 11:51 PM

The more time they take, the more kinks are worked out. It's going to be worth the wait, there are dozens of threads here bashing good suppliers that just didn't take their time with r&d and fitment on small stuff, and this is huge stuff.

SPOHN 08-03-2012 05:53 AM

They were post to have been wrapped up this week from my understanding. I called several times and sent some texts but no luck. I'm on the first list myself.

phunk 08-03-2012 11:14 AM

they went back to our fabricator to make changes to the level sensor mount. the stock level sensor on the drivers side hangs more towards the center of the opening. with the canister, it has to be offset to the very outside edge. its tricky to get the location and angle just right so that it doesnt interfere with the walls of the tank or the couple little baffles in there. pictures will show what i mean... we have a gas tank cut open here so we can see inside and check fitment stuff like that. we had to make the change. our location on our original prototype wasnt quite working due to the larger diameter of the production part.

i have also been working on the installation procedure... its a little more of a hassle than i had hoped. its still on the DIY level... nothing "hard", just a frustrating thing... fitting so much into such a small opening... requires some assembly inside the tank.

SPOHN 08-03-2012 12:36 PM

Maaan. Keep up the good work.

phunk 08-03-2012 02:34 PM

All i can do is apologize about the time frame of this project. It has been a consistent problem around here for a very long time now and I am currently making arrangements to get myself in a position where I do not have to depend on other people as much so that my priorities can come first. Changes are being made and I will disclose more information on that when the time is right... this will be the last project developed under these circumstances.

SPOHN 08-03-2012 05:42 PM

Thats right. Show them who's boss. Lol

SPOHN 08-08-2012 07:58 AM

So ready. I'm about to get my car back in two weeks.

Shamu 08-08-2012 08:36 AM

Have you guys looked at 034 Motorsports surge tank? Looks good to me.

Deja vous. That's fine if you want to convert to a return type system.

Understood and respected. Honestly if you want help setting something up for your car in the ASAP just contact me, I am probably your best resource for it! I just needed to bust your balls for spamming my thread. :tiphat:

My product is taking so long due to backend business issues that are being resolved. I wish it wasn't like this but combined with how complex our fix is to build, the result was this taking forever and busting right thru endless deadlines.

Rusty 08-09-2012 10:22 PM

Hey phunk. Sign me for when you get it finished. :tiphat:

SPOHN 08-10-2012 05:45 AM

Well Phunk I support you and will be ready. Can you say it definitely will be available by the middle of Sept.

phunk 08-10-2012 02:38 PM

^^^ i really hope so... but I have given up on quoting anything. As it stands, I will have the parts back from the fabricator today or tomorrow with the relocated level sensor mounts. He prefers to weld them up at his house where he has his own setup versus just welding them here at our shop. Anyway... I will be taking that part to the anodizer on Monday and once they get back its just sorting out the hoses for the install kit and its ready to go.

Waiting on hose.. Story of my life!

SPOHN 08-15-2012 02:38 PM

I support you Phunk all the way. But why you haven't return my several messages or text I've sent? It leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

travisjb 08-15-2012 06:37 PM

Question of the day... How many other vendors have been discouraged from making this product b/c they knew this one was "just around the corner"?

I know at least one

Hopefully those vendors realized what was going on. I know I did. I still don't think it's 'around the corner'. When people start reporting they're receiving orders and having them installed, I'll finally believe it's happening. This feels just like that guy in the Chicago suburbs who was claiming all the forthcoming carbon fiber products which just fizzled into a scam. At least Phunk hasn't taken anyone's money. He's just dangled the carrot and kept everyone from committing to other alternatives and discouraged those who propose them with elaborate explanations why only his solution will work (and possibly true, but I don't know enough to know for sure...hence the vicious circle).

Prepare for another couple week hiatus from any noteworthy updates followed by an email with a reason for delays.

Phunk, We're not looking for the best solution ever. Just come up with something that's an improvement, be forthcoming with what the solution can and can't accomplish so buyers are aware, and then make it better with a subsequent version (possibly with a discounted upgrade package for version 1 buyers). That would be much better than taking years to produce a single product due to pursuit of perfection on the first try.
