370z vs S5
My buddy wants to bring me to his track and give it a go between his 2010 S5 and my 370z. He got his S5 a few weeks ago and has been bragging to all of our friends about "how great of a car it is" and such and such. So now he has stepped up the trash talk and pretty much bad mouthed my car saying it stands no chance against his car, straight line or a few laps around the track. Normally, I wouldn't care about any of this stuff, but since he is a total D bag and I'm pretty sure his dad bought his car for him, I am considering accepting the challenge and meeting him at this track. So I wanted to find out from anyone here whether or not I stand a shot or perhaps someone has been in a similar situation at a track against an S5? I'm running nothing but my stock 40th anniversary and he has a stock S5. I checked online and the S5 is pushing 354hp however its a bit heavy at like 3850 pounds. So hopefully i have a chance........i really hate this kid so I appreciate any advice. Thanks

With AWD, he ought to launch faster. In dry conditions, you ought to be able to take a corner faster.
In the disastrous 2011 C&D Lightning Lap, the Nismo 370Z was 3 seconds faster than the Audi S5. |
Stock S5 runs about a 13.3 in the 1/4 mile so it is whoever drivers better.

depends on who crashes first
|
you guys should drag race in reverse.
|
Keep calm and enjoy the challenge, it will come down to skills at the track
|
If he is a 'total D-bag', then why is he still your buddy?
It's probably a driver's race. Who's the better driver between you two? |
Not gonna lie, I love my Z and all but the S5 is a sick car. Always liked them just toooo pricey for me.
|
Borrow my Z and lay waste to him at the track and then laugh at him for wasting all that money ;)
|
Oh yeah... If you don't want to get laughed at you better get an oil cooler installed before track day buddy...

Just depends on driver skill and the track. Some advantage goes to the S5 due to AWD and greater torque. That combo with help it get drive out of slow corners, but your skill could make up for it. With a nearly 600 lb. weight advantage, if you can carry more speed into a corner, your exit speed should narrow the gap and give you the chance to out pull him going into the next corner. Have fun - you can do it!

Go to the track run lap times and compare... each person also drives the other guys car for a session and record those times... best times overall wins! this will negate driver error.
I am rooting for the 370z lol does he want to race my G37 hehehehe! |
1/4 mile will be a drivers race. On a Time Attack/Road course, he got you beat.
