Depends. On my way home tonight, my temps never went above 205 (which is the lowest it's ever been after driving for 30 mins). Usually, it's around 220-240 after a 30 minute drive.

I'm not an expert on the oil coolers but my default oil temp while cruising at freeway speeds in 80 degree weather is 220 degrees, pretty much what it always seems to be. I think you'll find that without a cooler the oil temp will track the water temp until the engine is pushed then the oil temp will start to climb.

get the thermostatic plate. Its not a super expensive piece but its nice to have so you dont over cool your oil just incase Florida ever sees a cold day.

I have the Nissan Motorsports cooler (34 row?). I also live in Dallas, which has seen temperatures of 100+ for the last 34 days. So far, after 30 minutes on the freeway the temperature doesn't exceed about 180. In town (traffic, downtown) during the day I hit about 200 max.

Previously, when the car was new and did not have the cooler I could hit 200 without trying (my 6 mile morning commute could get me there). In case it matters I also have the Mocal thermostatic plate.

I have also tracked the car with/without. In april, at 85 degrees outside temperature I was able to get the car up to 260 during a 20 minute run at MSR Cresson (1.7). Hot enough that I had to stick to 4th for my last 2-3 laps because I didn't want to cook anything.

In June, at MSR Houston with temperatures of about 95 degrees I was unable to break about 240 during 30 minute sessions going as hard as I could.

Any of the coolers is worth it, but if you're in a place that's anything like Dallas with the summer heat I would get the biggest one possible. This engine gets too hot too fast. It's also nice knowing that when you're on the track you are able to keep the engine oil well within its temperature spec. New engines cost a lot more than the couple hundred dollars for the cooler!

oh yeah, the rubber wrapping that z1 offers is nice too. Again its not exactly cheap but its not expensive but its a nice thing to have. Im never a fan when you have metal on metal when there is a slight chance of vibration or movement.

Yea defiantly pick up the sheath they sell. I just bought some to install on my next oil change. It's amazing the little areas that rubbing can occur. I don't think there rubber though. Dai just likes to wear rubbers is what he meant to say.
