The 1/4 specs are approximately 13.7... most people would don't drive all that great can muster a 13.7 with a Z and then we have the few with high 12 and low 13 second passes... you also have to factor in the weight of each with the Z being about 150-200 lbs lighter or so I guess? |
The ls1 is rated 325 but usually puts that down to the tires. My friend's stock 02 ss went 12.6 @109 stock to the paper air filter. My SS went 12.9 @109 (2.1 60') and the op's 370 went 13.6 @105. I'm not dogging the VQ by any means (this is your site after all) I'm just speaking from my experience. Stay tuned guys; race is in 2 days and his 370 got tuned this morning.

Kinda quiet in here ... guess he's in the sack. :inoutroflpuke:

Hey guys just an update. I am home and all the mods to my car respond very well and she rips. Issue is when my buddies took the car out the best they can do is 305 after the tune. I don't have the dyno sheet in front of me at the moment. The race is tomorrow though. My buddies talked to the speed shop and they said every time they tried to change the timing the computer would change it back. I am assuming that has to do with cracking the VVEL.

no one has cracked the VVEL yet as far as I know... are they experienced with Z's?
|
Ya they have done a few Z's already and they said that this is the norm. for our car b/c of the timing issue. I mean she rips down low I haven't gotten on her too much yet tomorrow will be the final test when I take her to the track. As soon as I found out who/where the dyno sheet I'll post it up. From what I have seen on the site though, our car isn't very good on numbers but still produces on the track so I am shooting for a 12.7

Are you all doing several runs against each other or just a little warming up and then just a single race? |

I would fully agree with this although 12.6 seems a bit optimistic. The Camaro and TransAm where severly under-rated from factory. It's actually accepted that these cars came with 350hp or more at the crank with the factory. As quoted I've seen stock LS1's put down 310-320hp AT THE WHEELS. Most I've seen at the track run 13.3-13.5 in stockish form (at this age of car tires and wheels are changed on most of them). In my experience the LS1 is quite capable of hanging with if not beating a Z, but it will come down to the driver and track. The better the track prep and better the driver the better the LS1 will do. From a roll I would say it's even to about 100mph and after that the Z starts to walk away slowly; I won't say how I know this though. Also the LS1 I had most experience with was an automatic; I'm sure a 6-speed would do better. |
so did we have a race or what??
