I used Harry's Lap timer last weekend on my iphone. It performed fairly well I think considering it's price. The iphone is fairly limited by the max 1Hz sampling rate for the GPS though.

I would like to talk a friend into loaning me his Traqmate one of these days... he has yet to use it since he had a wreck shortly after buying it.

i need to know what people are pulling under braking in terms of g"s. i am trying to see if i can get more details on it. unlike many, i still dont think temperature is a big factor in ice mode. maybe on stock pads, but it changed nothing on race pads

I'll be using the Trackmaster app on my Droid at an autox this weekend (same 1hz gps limitation as the iphone). If the data would be useful to you I'll post it up

Forgot to post that the droid app was basically useless for autox, the 1hz sample rate was nowhere near fast enough.

Overall temperature isn't a problem based on what I've logged, just temperature affecting the brake balance. I never get ice-mode on track, but at auto-x I do unless I keep my front brakes cool. High bite pads make it far worse.

Temperatures might contribute to the problem, but I verified that it is not the only way to experience it. I left my XP10s on the car after my track day. I did one autox at a smooth lot, it was fine. I did one at a 40 years old lot with virtually no grip and wavey pavement. The car basically hit ice mode at every single corner. It didn't matter if the car was hot or cold, it just got into ice mode at every turn. To make matters worse, the car would jump in and out of ice mode even if you didn't hit it initially. It was a scary experience

Yes, I've experienced the same thing in low grip situations such as a little bit of loose sand on the road or on low grip tarmac with track pads installed. The way that it bounces in and out is most disturbing as you know it has the potential to stop, but for whatever reason it keeps backing out in an attempt to either give more steering potential or readjust itself.
