How far down should I wear the RE11?

I purchased a set of four RE11 in order to take advantage of the rebate. The new sets are 285 35 19, replacing my 2 285 35 19 and 2

Default How far down should I wear the RE11?

I purchased a set of four RE11 in order to take advantage of the rebate. The new sets are 285 35 19, replacing my 2 285 35 19 and 2 265 35 19. I have roughly 2 to 3 32nd on my 285s on my car. Do you guys think I can keep those in the back and still get full benefit from the tires or should I just swap all four and keep the two old ones as spares? Do these tires have a huge drop off like the R888 or can they be worn till they cord like the RA1s? My front tires have less than 2/32nd on them and I can feel they are losing it

You kind of answered your own question with your last sentence. If your front tires are equally or more worn, I'd just replace the rears as well. If the front or rear had significantly more tread than the other (eg 2/32 vs 6/32), you could consider just swapping one axle. I think having 9/32 up front and 2/32 in the rear is going to give you some strange handling sensations.

I did my first autox in five months on the old tires, screw you California and Florida people! The end result ended up looking decent, but the whole day was a struggle once it hit 40F. The fronts didn't have much grip while the back ended up doing the handicapped one legged wheelspin to compensate. While the back tires are still decent, but I probably won't have more than a month or two left on it. Rather than risking to be slow, I think I am going to mount all four new ones and keep the two back ones as spares since I will be running 285/35/19 all around. Let's see how they will react next week, I need a FTD in this thing.
