The M3 is a slow sorry excuse of a "sports" car. What a porker.

Sports cars are lighter and small. Since the Prius is smaller and lighter by 700lbs, Prius wins. End of bench race

The only real pure sports car is the Ariel Atom :p

I don't think so. At least not in the US.

How do you guys think the 370 compares to a M3 on a road course? Im assuming with a nismo 370, a stock for stock drag race is pretty even.but sports cars are generally regarded for roadcourse , since, well, its what the roads are really like, with turns. And im a fan of drag racing. but to put a car down because it costs more than your car, and offers more than your car, is ridiculous.

have you been in one? im not trolling, it was the first thread that caught my attention, because of the title obviously. And then it turned into a whats a sports car battle. well, as NOT having an M3, i can tell you. For a purpose built car that can tackle any kind of racing right off the floor, its the best bang for the buck

No, the M3 is not the best bang for the buck, it is not even in the top 5 anymore.

LostMarine 04-07-2011 10:06 AM

so what is? and according to who?

theDreamer 04-07-2011 10:13 AM

C6 Grand sport - 54k
Boss 302 - 40k
GT500 - 49k

That is just off the top of my head, can throw in some Lotus or a couple other euro cars before I would even consider a M3 for any track purpose. Sorry, you want to go back 6-10 years for the M3 then yes it was probably a top 3 pick, not even close right now.

so, based on your judgement, not actual hard data like #'s, you really believe a GT500 can outperform the M3 in a roadcourse?

I do concur with the new 5.0 though, that thing is rather impressive.

lotus? power and handling. It seems as though your are pickin cars that have A. more power, or B. good handling

but not the COMBINATION of both. hence for the money, the M3 still is a top competitor in the top 5.

Add to that Daily driver duty status, and the margin between M3 taking a lead, and the competition gets even bigger. sure a C6 can do it all well, but have you ridden in one of those? cheap platsic interior is not comfortable.

so I ask again, is this your feelings, or do you have data? Driver and #'s are always going to be different. but if you a budget of less than 100K, and wanted a car that can do EVERYTHING you wanted. and not just do it, but do it better than most. would you still pick those cars you tried to mention?
