Bolt-on acceleration improvements

Have any of you guys quantified an improvement in 0-60 or 1/4 mile times after installing catbacks, HFCs, and intakes? I'm curious if anybody has truly demonstrated the improved butt

I'm curious if anybody has truly demonstrated the improved butt and real dynos result in real world speed improvements. Hell, I'll even take a story about how your bolt-on 370 outran a stock one. 30 whp seems like it should make a noticeable improvement in these times.

I'm not going to blow smoke up anyones arse, but I will say that my 1/4 mile time improved once the HFC's were installed, I'm a pretty consistent dragger, and I seen my best time of 13.5 stock improve to a 13.38/13.41, I think ZEliminator also had a huuuuge improvement from stock to full bolt ons, I believe he went from a low 13 to 12.8, thats insane.

30whp improvement is noticable on track. Might also consider shedding some dead weight from the car. Dropping weight is usually cheaper than adding power. The end results can be the same.

Sharif, can you chime in on the weight reduction thread on some good weight reduction & proper distribution of that weight. I am sure anyone can take out weight but doing it properly is another side of things.

That would be really helpful. Anyone can pull the spare tire out of the back, but then you just made the front:rear weight bias worse. I'm liking the Ingen intakes as my next mod since they replace the massive washer reservoir with a smaller one (less weight in front).

My original post was influenced by my recent addition of HFCs. I'm loving the audible change, but also wondering what kind of track-related improvement they would translate to.

Weight reduction is always a good thing. Balance is easily adjusted via corner weighting, and alignment/suspension settings. Naturally, you will want to make these adjustments after removing weight from the car.

Weight reduction strategy depends on how extreme you want to go, and how easily reversible you want it to be. If it's a race car, like our Time Attack 370Z, everything is removed.

Can you link me to the weight reduction thread?

We can thank RCZ for this thread, need to get more info though, http://www.the370z.com/brakes-suspen...on-thread.html.
So what you are saying is I can:
~Buy a lighter battery
~Remove weight in the rear
~Balance this with suspension/alignment mostly?

I always viewed it as a balancing act, I was unaware suspension/alignment could help weight balance.

A quick 90 lb. reduction without really compromising balance would be the passenger seat/jack/spare, did it for the track this weekend, weighed the car before and after removal and saved 91.7 lbs exactly, not too shabby if you ask me!

If it was my DD, that occasionally saw some track days, I would remove the spare, jack, and all the carpeting from the seats back, and install a lighweight battery and smaller/lighter wheels and tires.

I remember the VQ35HR's running 13.1 stock on I think a 350z sit eor Streetfire a while back and they bashed the 370z when it was released. I don't remember the trap speeds since only looking at the ET doesn't really do a whole lot but I woul like to see someone with some really good drag strip skills to drain the 370z 100% of its straight line performance. The way the Z performs in the turns is a whole different story but everyone can understand a simple drag race.

That 350Z had to be a Factory freak. If you look at DragTimes there was only one 13.1 out of literally hundreds of 350Zs and only a couple in the 13.4 to 13.5 range. By and large 90% of the posted 350Z's floated around the 13.7 to 13.9 1/4 mile range.

Not to be rude or anything, But isnt Acceleration= Force x mass? So if you change your Force(horsepower) or your Mass (weight) It will make a difference in your acceleration. simple physics.
