I am looking for some 12.70s when the freaking rain stops.

Mine is a 2010 touring 7AT with out nav.

Light 18” Enkei rear wheels and light MT 285/18 drag radials.
Stripped trunk no spare jack or sub or plastic.
Factory spare fronts with 18” MT skinnys.
Z1 2 pc front rotors.
Test pipes Motordyne ART
Odssey PC 680 battery.
Akrapovic CBE exhaust

5 gal of fuel

Ohh.. and one weight penalty 48 row true cool oil cooler.

We were supposed to have a cool front come through last night so I went to the strip. I really thought I was going to do well but the air quality was crap and the cold front never came through. A/D was right around 1400 and ran several 12.75 with 2.06 60' which is terrible, I'm used to running 1.91 60'. I made a couple adjustments to the coilovers and got it down to 12.71 but still with a 2.05 60'. I've got to make more adjustments to the suspension because my 60' is trash now ever since going to coilovers.

I cant figure out this nissan suspension. Ive made close to 100 1/4 mile runs in my 370 7AT and the BEST sixty foots are 2.01 to 2.02 in good air on drag radials. It has the 3.69 rear gear in it.

So I was thinking about coil overs or koni shocks. Sounds like thats not the answer? Ran 12.977 best after the rain stopped Friday night. The car was getting wheel hop shifting into second gear. Never had that issue previously.

Went to the strip yesterday with nice air quality (air density = 670). I didn't make any adjustments to the suspension, I wanted to get a baseline run and it ended up being a 12.53 @110 with a 1.97. It wasn't a clean pass so I knew a better time was coming. Now I've moved up to #3 on the 1/4 mile list.
:tiphat: :happydance:
12.44 @ 111

I can't say the coilovers are the culprit because at the same time I swapped from 3.69 to 4.08 gears... And I was able to get the 60' down by leaving the line with less RPM. I was thinking the higher rpm the better, but I guess I'm just not hooking on the radials. (305/35/19 @ 18 psi). On 3.69 gears I would heat the tires up until white smoke about 7-10 secs, and launch at 1800 rpm and catch a 60' @ 1.95 with consistency. I hope this helps. PS... Check your rear diff bushings

Yep; 60’ time is critical,as I was consistent 1.94-1.95’s w/heated street tires on stock suspension & 3600# car w/driver. I installed line-loc that really gives a good even heating of rear tires,,,never held against the brakes at launch-just flashed it.
I know with smaller tires & a little less weight would have gotten lower times w/3.69:1 diff....but everything came to a hault when I was crashed out otw home from track (1/21/18’),,,,i really think these cars are capable of bumping a high 11 under right conditions. Though high 12’s were my best with 345/30’s out back & my 275+ azz in leather Touring seats.
Keep at it,,,may want to try removing rear sway bar for some weight transfer & relocating battery to rear.
My run came with a full size spare in back, floor jack, over 1/2 tank fuel...but I was mostly checking launch & traction. I’ll be at it again after insurance gets straight with me.
Good luck fellas!

Well, i just put new whiteline bushings in when I did the 3.69 pumpkin install. I will check them again however, because they really helped with wheel hop over the factory bushings. I am thinking now I may have had too much tire pressure..@ 23 psi in the MT ET STreet SS.

The car went sideways on my last run shifting into second, so I just aborted the whole run.

Send that 3.92 pumkin up here to OKC, and heavy dual exhaust. Maybe that will help get this heap to run like yours!

Do you still have the vlsd traction device or other?
Also with a good even burnout (not powerbraking); you should have no wheel spin....could have had poor track conditions.

Yes I still have the factory VLSD with the 3.69 gear.

There was rain all that morning, and they were struggling to keep the track dry.

I have the Ecutec throttle hijack working so burnouts are no problem!

I know it's been a while since posting any updates, but I have been trying to make strides. I swapped to an underdrive pulley from NST. I dynoed the car on a different dyno jet that I've never used and still 315whp. So it wasn't at difference at all. Money wasted if you ask me.

So the best I could on the 4.08 gears was a 12.40 on pump gas with the new setup. I then decided to swap fuel pump and injectors for e85 and etune. At the same time I swapped back to the 3.91, (I didn't try 4.08 on e85 because I was running out of time to get my runs in before the track shuts down). I was really thinking the 3.91 would do better for the 7at, but after a etune I ran a 12.38. I was data logging the runs and the a/f ratio were not very favorable to say the least (13.5 at WOT on e85). I am thinking a Dyno tune and retry the 3.91, 4.08, and even do the 3.69 before doing anything else.

Now I'm at a crossroads, cams or just boost the car. But I need to do a road course a couple days and see what she does.

The E85 A/F seems off to me.

I re-dynoed mine last week on E85 and it was at 12.8.

I would dyno tune it and run it with the 3.91

Great work by the way!

Oh it's off for sure... actually started throwing lean codes on e85

SG4247 01-04-2019 11:39 AM

And just fyi, I think 12.8 for E85 on my rig is too rich...

Come run NASA at NOLA with me on the 19th. I’ll see if I can be your instructions.

Wow, I knew it was a long time since posting, but I didn't think it was this long. I still haven't bested the 12.38 :( and alot of things have changed. I ended up having my CSF Radiator crap out again in July, so since I had it out I did a JWT C2 cam swap. I had the car dyno tuned and made 329whp on pump gas and 336whp on e85. I went to the strip and ran a 12.71 with the 3.69 gears (very disappointed). I swapped to the 4.08 and ran a 12.51 (extremely disappointed). I then said screw it and decided to go balls deep and bought a spare transmission and sent it to IPT to build the trans with the shift kit and 3500 stall. While in there I changed the flex plate to the Fast Intentions. I did a base brake swap on the rears to fit on the new wheels with 275/60/15 tire. I went to the strip last weekend with the front spares on and ran a 12.57 in 85 degree heat (1496 AD). Not what I was looking for but couldn't get the car to stall past 2200rmp, so that is something I have to look into and try and get the rear brakes to hold better. I was able to get the car weight right around 3200 lbs. I scaled the car on the way back home with a 1/2 tank of fuel in the car.

BTW: I have a Stage 2 Soho single turbo setup that should be on the way soon, it was ordered back in November with upgrades to the injectors (1300) and the fuel pump (450).
