Default Traction control question in regards to drag racing.

So I was drag racing with a friend at a local track and my traction control light would flash on launch even though I had the traction control off. I thought nothing of it at first until he told me it sounded like it kicked in for a moment on launch. So my question is what is happening and why? I'm not new to drag racing and I certainly don't want any electronic tweaking while I'm on the track. Also is there a way to turn this off? Could the ecu be Miss interpreting something? Maybe theinking I'm losing control in a turn? Would a switch on the yaw sensor solve this problem? Oh and the car is a 2013 370z base sport with 14,000 miles. Everything is stock except a stillen gen 3 intake.

I cant answer at the drag strip, but I do autocross mine in Pelham/Hoover and Dothan and even with the traction off it'll flash sometimes, never notice it pull power or brake when flashing.. just flash

Yeah like I said my friend actually heard it next me in his mustang. That's what really caught my attention. Literally the first thing he said to me after we went down the strip at Steele was "did you forget to turn your traction control off?"

Used to happen to me with my G37 on drag and road course. Wired in a switch to the yaw sensor/traction control module and it fixed the issue.

The slip light flashes when the car detects wheel slip, that's all.

VDC off does not turn off all of the traction control nannies. My guess is that your friend heard ABLS kicking in.

Cool I'll look into getting a switch and follow the yaw sensor DIY.

Isn't that the same light that will flash under hard acceleration if the brake reservoir isn't full?

The FSM has descriptions/schematics/wiring diagrams/&c of TCS and the other nannies. There are several DIYs on this site about defeating the yaw sensor, power-limiting when brake pedal is pressed, &c.

It is indeed the same light, but under that scenario (low or sloshing brake fluid) the light comes on steady and does not flash

Did you pull the brake fuse out ?
you have to do this when running the 1/4 mile.

just remember to put it back in before you leave the track

If you had it turned off, meaning lights on, how did it flash then? You sure it was the TC light flashing? Or the YAW light flashing?

Yes the yaw light flashed on launch. I realize that's not exactly traction control but there was computer interference. I'm going to install a yaw sensor switch so that I can kill all possiblity of any abs/traction control/ Yaw interference.

Also I want to thank everyone for there input. I've only owned my Z for two months so I'm still learning the ins and outs of this Nissan. I've always been a loyal fan of the company but this is my first Z.
