Skip all that:
~Berk high flow cats
~Berk, Stillen, Fast Intentions Exhaust
~Stillen, Injen intake

That will put you near the best naturally aspirated setup you can get currently, you can also add a tune (Uprev or Cobb) if you want.

Thanks. Is the Stillen stuff that much better than KN? I'm a newbie tweaker, what brand is Berk? Sorry, gotta start somewhere.

I am too. But Stillen has been a name brand especially for the Z for years. And in the Stillen Cold Air uses K&N filters. Berk is its own brand. known for their High flow cats "HFC" and exhaust that is coming out soon.
There are alot of threads with lots of good info.

The K&N is not a true cold air.

Only the Stillen and AEM are true cold air intakes

Thanks to all. The Stillen stuff does look more purpose fit. Why not jack with the chip? Hypertech is only vendor, but it's not out yet. Claim 15HP. Dont see much about chip use amongst the tweakers.

You do not really "chip" a Z, here are your two options:
~Tune: You keep the factory ECU and you use a program to alter the programing (Uprev or Cobb AP).
~Crazy expensive ECU replacement: Currently the only option is from companies in Japan and basically you get a blank ECU and start from the ground up setting your parameters.

Not sure about Hypertech & what they do, but Cobb & Uprev both are more of a wipe & replace system with the ability to return to factory if needed.

K&N is a filter brand, they released an intake system but it is pretty "meh." You will need to look for true cold air intake systems, Stillen/Injen/AEM.
