But I agree with BoobZ to some extent. NBA and NHL playoffs are more exiting than the NFL Draft. Baseball, however, is about as exciting as hearing your team's biggest rival just traded up to get the best player in the draft. :icon17: |
:icon17: That's fine, football (soccer) and baseball aren't for everyone.
NFL is #3 on my list of favorites, so it will take a back seat to #1 and #2. Still not able to get back into the NBA. I tried, but I just couldn't watch many games this year to really get back into it. Maybe next year. |
And, I don't like how the NFL has commercialized and blown the draft WAAAYYY out of proportion.
It's a draft. It doesn't need it's own television spot. People don't need to have "draft parties" - if you had one, or attended one, you're contributing to the dumbification of the United States. |

For whatever reason, I enjoy soccer but not baseball  I watch too much college to really get into the NBA regular season. But NBA playoffs are typically awesome. And there were three Texas teams in the playoffs this year  |

The first round is entertaining enough to put on as background noise. You only need to look at the TV every time you hear the little chime that means the pick is in. I can't imagine watching rounds 2-7. You read the outcome of that in ten minutes Monday morning on your phone in the bathroom.

You can easily get the results as they happen from ESPN updates. I guess it's the same feeling people get when they try to watch soccer or baseball - they just don't understand. I just don't understand the pull behind the draft. Sure, I want my team to draft as best as they can, but I'm not going to sit on the edge of my seat watching a broadcast of it. A friends brother-in-law was so stoked about having a draft party a few years ago and I just laughed in his face. But he's also one of those "know-it-alls" and a Cardinals fan. :shakes head: |

I'm not really into that either. But I can understand people who are. It's fantasy football that I don't understand. At all. I have the first round recorded. It could potentially last longer than 5 hours. Regardless of how long it lasts, I will watch the entire round in probably ~30 minutes, fast forwarding through probably 90% of the filler. I've even avoided checking the draft picks thus far. Sure I could have checked and been done in a few minutes. But this is how I like to do it. To each their own :tiphat: |
Forgot about this thread. Interesting week of football. Any time I get to come in to work and rile up the two Seattle fans is just the start for a great week. All I hear between the two of them when they talk about the next opponent is "I hope" which is a far cry from their attitude in the off season.
That Cards / Lions game was hard to watch. Wonder if the Lions are going to have another 0-16 year? In the Lions defense the Cardinals have another good season ahead of them, just need to stay healthy and I feel they will be contenders. My Packers are dangerous this year. 12 consecutive wins at Lambeau, 5-0 for the season. Patriots are doing their thing and are always dangerous. 49ers are hard to watch too. |
Go Cowboys and Texans :wtf2:
|
The Packers don't look very strong at all. Rodgers is struggling, just as Peyton is for the Broncos.
I think they'll both right the ship, but still... I knew we were going to get slaughtered by the Pats yesterday, but it was at least good to see our defense sack Brady several times. Weeden is just ****. It's time for Cassel to start. Hopefully we'll still be in contention for the division by the time Romo is back. |
Struggling? Yea a little but still coming out with the W which to me is more important than stats.
I was in your boat two years ago when Rodgers got hurt, it sucked. |

Seems the defense is saving both teams, but Rodgers is starting to get some of that offensive flair back, just not consistently. |

^^^Raiders?? Ouch
|
Yea, that sucked. Though, the Raiders have been playing better football as of late...there is no excuse for the Jets' defensive meltdown. As soon as I saw Geno Smith enter the game, I knew we were in for trouble. He is ******* awful.
At the end of the day, the Jets don't stack up to the Patriots...they ain't going anywhere. Please just not let them win the Superbowl again... |
Well, our first loss was hard to watch. Downright painful. Nobody's invincible and Peyton is either super lucky, sold his soul to the devil or is just like a car before it blows up (runs super strong).
|
That was ugly, but we'll take the win. Next up...Rex and the Bills on Thursday. The Jets cannot sleepwalk through this game.
|
Got a new Rodgers jersey for my B-Day which was yesterday, she woke me up at 11 on Sunday and gave it to me. It's obviously a lemon. Damn you Cam Newton!!

It sheds some light on our ability to take out winning teams mid season. Really missing Jordy Nelson out there. Hoping everyone else can stay healthy.

WELP, football has officially sucked for the past 3 weeks. Can't believe we lost to the Lions. However I can still crack a smile after the Seahawks / Cards game.
|
Packers fans should be ashamed for allowing someone to yell "Muslims suck" during the moment of silence. There were other things said too.
It could have been a Lions fan, but it's doubtful since it was Lambeau. Still, I have so, so much praise for Aaron Rodgers for calling the fans out after the game. This dude, even if on a team I dislike, is such class. |
I missed the moment of silence but Aaron Rodgers did do right by calling out the fans for that.

What a shame. The New England Scumbags will not be making a Super Bowl appearance this year.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Finally the Cards bandwagon fans can stop trying to talk ****. Then get offended when someone talks **** back. :icon17:
Go Panthers! They've been my pick since at least Thanksgiving. |
was an awesome experience here are a few pics I took

Haven't checked in this season. Not going back to the start, just want to comment on how some weeks, a house divided between two teams can be good. But when one team loses, it can be a little uncomfortable.
We have 3 dogs (2 were adopted by my GF before me and the other is mine). Since my game was on Sunday Ticket I occupied the couch and the big TV, she watched her game in the bedroom with both of her dogs. After the 1st quarter of the Cardinals game her two dogs were laying at my feet because she was yelling at the TV so much. By half time she was watching the Packers game with me looking all sorts of pissed off. Sports Illustrated calling the Cardinals Super Bowl contenders has cursed them in a way. I hope for my lady and her dog's sake they turn it around. How did everybody else do?? |
It was entertaining to see the Cards blow it continually. :icon17:
Then Fitzpatrick had to one-up Palmer... loool. And ODB getting whacked by the kicking net... probably the single greatest thing I've seen in a while. |
Quote:
OBD and the kicking net, hahahaha I watched it so many times! |

Anyhoo, at the end of the appointment he looked at her and said "I'll leave you a couple lower level tickets for Sunday's game if you're not doing anything". So She went and picked them up this morning. Section 105 row 22, we will be sitting with a lot of the player's wives so my GF is hell bent on making friends. To top it off he insisted on buying our 1st round of beers so we got drink tickets too. You're damn right I'm going and I will enjoy myself. Packers have a bi-week so it's perfect. |
