I'd add Vidic to the list as well, purely based on his defense abilities, but I think Rio's a little bit more assured on United's back line. Vidic can have a tendency to let frustration set in as close games wear on, which ultimately lead to bad like decisions giving away free kicks in dangerous areas and such. Rio's got a tad more resolve to mind his head when the games get tight. He's part of the reason United were able to grind out so many close wins last season. But as we all know, a close win is still 3 points in the bag, which all adds up come May. And there's the mastermind of Sir Alex at work. The calm assuredness of a Rio Ferdinand to compliment the tenacity of Nemanja Vidic, and alongside them you have marauding wing backs in who can also cover in defense in Chris Smalling and Patrice Evra. Quite the intimidating back four.
