I was a bit shocked when Stuart Pierce didnt offer to buy his galaxy contract out, he slotted right in to the Everton midfield and made a huge contribution to the attack on that team, hell, the Everton fans were angry that he left and that says alot, he earned the respect of the fans and as a yank, thats not easy to do.

Slovakia completely outplayed Italy in the first half. It was obvious from the opening kickoff. Italy woke up about 70 minutes in, but by then it was too late.

Props to New Zealand, though. Even though they didn't move on, how about not losing a single game in that group? I hope the Kiwis recognize what an accomplishment that is. Their goaltender deserves much of the credit.

EDIT: Oh, I thought you were asking, seriously, about what happened. I'll leave it here anyways for the people that are curious.

After the goal, an Italian player rushed the goal to try and secure the ball from the Slovakian goalie. The goalie fell to the ground and wouldn't let the ball go.

The Italian started roughing up the goalie to get him to give him the ball, so a 2nd Slovakian player came in and punched/elbowed the Italian in the face (it really didn't look bad at all). The italian fell to the ground, crying and whatnot, causing his team to come to his defense.

It was contained quickly and both the goalie and the Italian got yellow carded. I believe the other Slovakian that threw the elbow or whatever went unpunished.
