I hope someone gives Vettel the chrome horn!!!

DLSTR 03-16-2013 11:50 PM

Tires will be key early on. He had alot of graining on the soft.

Hopefully it will be Hamilton.

Pace on the mediums will be everything. Those softs will be gone early and that change to mediums will be key. No rain for the race is what is being called now!

DLo 03-17-2013 01:43 AM

Rain will throw a massive monkey wrench into this race!

DLSTR 03-17-2013 03:05 AM

Great race. Kimi was amazing and that car, Lotus is very easy on its tires. The fact that he back'd off then set a fast lap late is bad news for the others.

6MT 03-17-2013 01:39 PM

Nice race! Now... On Sunday.... boring left turn racing...500 laps....snore!!

Actually, I think I've figured out what this silly NASCAR race is the same as... watching rush hour traffic that goes around in circles.

BGTV8 03-17-2013 04:54 PM

I watched the race yesterday and it was clear the Kimi had an ace up his sleeve, pulled his quckest lap right before the end to open the gap on Fernando who until then had been closing .... a pleasant gesture from one driver to another - a bit like a 1-fingered salute ... Fernando backed off a few 10ths after that.

Poor old Mark Webber simply cannot get the car off the line ......... starts from pitlane after put stop just fine ....

DLo 03-17-2013 11:18 PM

Excellent start to the season. Should be interesting!

Someone please explain why Mark cannot start to save his arse. Its let him down and cost him more points/wins than any driver alive. Unreal!

No one was thinking it would be a Kimi win to start the year off!

m4a1mustang 03-18-2013 03:05 PM

I'm just upset I fell asleep on lap 10. This weekend I'm going to go to bed around 9pm on Saturday night and wake up at 3am to watch Malaysia.

I had no problem staying up to ~1:30 AM for Australia but a few laps in I was zonked and had to go to bed. Lesson learned.

Nice write up from the BBC and David Coulthard-

BBC Sport - Kimi Raikkonen might be the right man in the right car this season

I stuck it out but I was draggin all weekend. I felt the pain as well.

Now I'm just debating whether or not I should shell out $35 for the timing & scoring season pass for my iPad.

It seems that they use KERS to help get away and poor old Mark is an Aussie male and can only do one thing at a time .... it has me stuffed because I was hoping he could (in what may well be his final year in F1) that he could do well at the Oz GP - sad but not to be

Yes I feel the same. I really wanted Mark to shine at home in this race. I hold his talents highly but this starting issue has got to be worked on. Its long overdue and its cost him dearly even at Jaguar!

TreeSemdyZee 03-18-2013 06:59 PM

Seems like Mark could benefit from training with a pro dragster driver. He must wait until the light goes out, which is too late. He really screwed himself yesterday because he just got sucked back into traffic.
Definitely a great race yesterday.

Australian Auto Action reporting from last weekend states Webber's car lost telemetry on the formation lap which meant that engineers on the pit-wall could not program the clutch for the start and the KERS was inoperative for the first 20 laps ...

WTF ?

Sounds to me like they can do a partial re-boot of bits of the ECU whilst the car is racing ?

Hmmmm ...

See also short write-up is Nissan MotorSport (aka Kelly Racing) move towards the front of the grid with a top-5 finish for Moffat in Race 2. The sleeved down VK56 is still down on mid-range torque (NISMO from Japan have spent 3 days here this week looking for tweaks to improve mid-range torque) and a tad off in top end (Nissan's are consistently 4-5 kph down on top-speed in Adelaide and Albert Park), but they are showing impressive lap-speed on the softer of the 2 compounds available at selected circuits.

Next V8SuperCar round in Tasmania in a week.

Saw the report on Mark's ECU. Mclaren have been apologizing. Not a nice way start your race eh? Hopefully he will make up for it this weekend in Sepang.

The V8 series you have there looks amazing. I hope to catch a race or 2 at some point.

Enjoy the race this weekend mate!!

DLSTR 03-23-2013 02:18 AM

Qualy is on! Tough call. All team are showing some tire degradation. Red Bull one of the worst. Mercedes look strong but I think some element of tire conservation is going on based on what I saw in Prac 3

As long as Vettel doesn't do well I'm happy.

m4a1mustang 03-23-2013 03:55 AM

Boooo Seb!

m4a1mustang 03-23-2013 03:59 AM

Drying track makes this interesting.

m4a1mustang 03-23-2013 04:02 AM

Massa has found his mumbo again .... and Fazza's start better than Red Bull .... that might make it interesting !!!

Cannot watch the race this evening, but have it set to record and will watch tomorrow night ......

Zoren 370 03-23-2013 07:54 PM

I think Comcast xfinity doesn't have NBC Sports. Bummer.

Zoren 370 03-23-2013 09:12 PM

Finally found it on Channel 448 Versus HD.

Waiz 03-23-2013 09:24 PM

I just wrapped up watching one of the qualifying sessions, man 100+ track temps is no joke and their tires are disintegrating.

I root for Ferrari and Kimi too but despise Seb :icon17:

DLSTR 03-24-2013 02:27 AM

Pre race is on....Steady rain now!
