Agreed. Great race, though I was only semi-conscious for the last 5 laps or so ... :)

Glad that Vettel didn't win again -- this season has the danger of F1 becoming the "Red Bull Show"

Hows that Track coming down in Austin? Isn't that out near the airport some place?

Looked for it on google but either they haven't broken ground yet, or the current google maps are just too old.....

m4a1mustang 04-17-2011 12:03 PM

Wish I could have stayed up late enough (or woken up early enough) to catch the race. Sounded like it was a good one. I'm with Zag... glad someone finally crashed Vettel's party!!!

Zaggeron 04-17-2011 12:04 PM

@ Scott: Don't think they've broken ground yet, but they've officially named it "Circuit of the Americas"

Formula 1 United States | Austin 2012

It is by the airport and is probably only about 4 miles from my house -- right between my house and the airport. I could walk there on race day!

That's great -- so IF Mustang and I ever get tickets (figure those odds....) we'll have a place to crash!:icon17:

Zaggeron 04-17-2011 12:19 PM

I'm on the mailing list for tickets, but I'm not holding my breath. Big question is how they are gonna get all the people to the track. A traffic analysis a little while ago estimated a 12 hour car ride from any of the major highways around the track -- and they are all less than 5 miles away. If I get a ticket, I'll ride my bicycle :)

Oh we will have tickets! :icon17:

Wow just finished watching the race and it was amazing...It was nice to see Lewis pull off the win but I don't mind seeing Vettel win, if him and his car are that much better then they just are that much better. Loved seeing a nice race though...Webber was VERY impressive 18th to 3rd?!

Oh and I didn't know we were building a new track in Texas! You guys think it's gonna be difficult getting tickets? I imagine that would be one of the best weekends of my life.

There is going to be some pent up demand for tickets but considering the USGP at Indy never sold out, I think it shouldn't be too hard getting a ticket. Hopefully they aren't too expensive.

Sscottfitz 05-08-2011 07:12 AM

Interesting Turkey Start -- Lewis blew his -- now he'll spend the rest of the race trying to get around Button.....

Looks like they are just going to swap positions every other lap. :icon17:

I predict Vettel will continue to drive away for an easy win.

Agreed, the race (unless the RBR boys have a problem) is for filling out the 2&3 podium spots.......

Interesting clip of Masa & Hamilton coming out of the pits.....

TreeSemdyZee 05-20-2011 09:38 PM

Did you guys hear about the Chinese guy accusing Sutil stabbing him in the neck. Looks like somebody's trying to get paid.

Face value for my '05 USGP tix was $150, but they ended up being about $240. Great seats to view the three team extended practice of a race that year. :\

Trying to keep the thread alive!! I download all the races, qualifying, and practice sessions since I find it all very interesting. They usually go a lot more technical in the discussions during the practice and qualifying on bbc.

Catalunia was pretty interesting, first time pole sitter didn't win in 10 years. And how about Alonso at the start, where did he come from?

2012 Austin! Woot! I'll camp outside if I have to avoid all the traffic. Should be nice and warm out there. I'm also going for the entire weekend. I personally like the qualifying/practice the most since you don't have an assigned seat and you can roam around the track to see different vantage points. That's what I did at Indy in '07.

Apparently Sutil was in a bar fight during Chinese GP...

Given the traffic will be awful and I only live about 5 or 6 miles away, I'll be riding my bicycle :)

Absolutely the Best Racing Day of the Year!

So lets start the day off with a little F1 action! A little disappointed with yesterday's qualifying, specifically Q3 -- guess that is the risk of waiting for the last couple of minutes of the session to put in a fast lap.

Still a great day of racing ahead!

m4a1mustang 05-29-2011 06:38 AM

Hell yeah! Best day of racing all year.

Sscottfitz 05-29-2011 07:14 AM

.....Shu & Lewis --- this is a wreck waiting to happen.......

m4a1mustang 05-29-2011 07:17 AM

Nice pass by Hamilton

m4a1mustang 05-29-2011 07:31 AM

Bum stop by Vettel... Button to the lead!

Sscottfitz 05-29-2011 08:15 AM

.....looking like this is Jenson's race to loose -- gotta believe both Alonzo & Vettel will have to stop one more time.........

m4a1mustang 05-29-2011 08:27 AM

Indeed.

m4a1mustang 05-29-2011 08:28 AM

Unless Vettel and Alonso get together and collect Button!

m4a1mustang 05-29-2011 08:40 AM

Well this is interesting!

m4a1mustang 05-29-2011 08:48 AM

Very cool... Race will resume.

Hopefully Petrov is alright.

Sscottfitz 05-29-2011 08:51 AM

......wow, didn't see that one coming -- sheets up to cover pictures of Petrov, that can't be good......

m4a1mustang 05-29-2011 08:53 AM

Uh oh... That is not good. The hit itself didn't look too too bad but you never know... Earnhardts crash didn't look bad...

Sscottfitz 05-29-2011 09:01 AM

....I'm thinkin the NASCAR guys would like the F1 rules for allowing repairs during a red flag -- I wasn't aware of that rule........not a bad rule if you are Lewis.......

I am not sure how I feel about that rule.

m4a1mustang 05-29-2011 09:05 AM

Ridiculous that they let them change tires.

Sscottfitz 05-29-2011 09:06 AM

.....definitely changed the probable outcome of the race.....I'm thinkin Jenson is NOT a big fan of the rule......

.....still might be a interesting finish......

m4a1mustang 05-29-2011 09:08 AM

Yeah, pretty lame. Cars should be untouched during the red flag.

m4a1mustang 05-29-2011 09:14 AM

Blah... Would have been way better if they couldn't change tires.

Sscottfitz 05-29-2011 09:21 AM

Oh well -- one race down, two to go......definitely an interesting start to the day.......

LunaZ 05-29-2011 08:44 PM

Yeah, I would have liked to have seen them race the cars as they were. There was definitely some drama building up with Vettel's tyres going off. You could see that he was getting a little ragged.

Is Hamilton the new Montoya or what?
