I usually download/pirate the BBC coverage Sunday morning and watch with friends and beer in the afternoon. No comparison to the Speed broadcast. The rain thing is retarded... I actually like the option of cutting a chicane x times a race more than the rain idea. |

Tire wear on the inters... The dry's go out even worse, and last about 1-2 laps at most, and according to some your off by 2 seconds after than. This season will make almost every race seam like Canada last year. good stuff |
Seems like they finally got the memo from NASCAR. If the tires go to crap after a few laps you end up wih some good racing ala Canada last year. Should be a great season!

i hate the speed broadcast and would love to get the BBC feed |
So this will be my first season trying to get into F1. What's so bad about the Speed coverage versus BBC? If it's that much better, then I can see waiting until Sunday and downloading it as well (probably available on Newsgroups).

The prerace is a fun hour with Coulthard, Martin Brundle, Eddie Jordan, and whats his face... It's worth grabbing them for the pre race alone. I usually pull them off alt.binaries.formula1 about 1-2 hours after the race ends. If you're willing to wait a bit longer you can grab them off various torrent sites. Usually still same day. I then use my PS3 or Xbox to watch on my way-too-big-for-my-house TV. TiVo works in a pinch too.
If y'all want I can post up Hungary, Italy, or Brazil if you want to see the usual quality/size. It's going to be even better this year with the races in HD. I have Brazil quali buildup/qualifying if you want to see that too. Basically... I'm a nut. |
the announcers are really not that great. In F1 there is a camera crew that feeds every broadcasting company and Speed announcers really have to just "wait and see" what views they are going to give you. its called "the world feed" so the announcers dont really control the cameras they just comment on whatever is fed to them. Pretty sure the BBC has to do this too but F1 is huge in the UK. Most of the teams are located in the UK so they take it much more seriously and have better announcers.
F1 just isnt that big in the states. We dont even have a race here anymore. (soon to change hopefully) America loves NASCAR i guess. I never have understood that but I do respect the drivers and their abilities. the F1 races are all over the world and that means if you want to watch it live you have to stay up at like 3am to watch. (perfect if you just came home from a night of drinking and have some jack in the box) but otherwise pre-DVR world kinda sucked The BBC has been broadcasting the F1 series for years except for a couple of years they lost the contract a couple of years ago. Their broadcasters are pretty good. Even David Couthard makes a funny every once in awhile. Plus i think BBC has multiple feeds. I know they have a feed thats just for kids as well as the regular broadcast. |

i usually DVR all the races on speed, but with half of the races going over the scheduled time i never get to see a finish! :(

I can't DVR any sporting event. I have to watch it live.
The best Sundays are ones that start with F1 at 7 in the morning and finish off with the Sprint Cup race. A full day of racing. :yum: And I'll get up at (or stay up 'til) 2am for some of the odd hour races if I have to. If for some reason I can't I'll just check the results as soon as I wake up. I simply can't watch any sporting event on a tape delay! |
