yeah it was like 80 degrees there, sun shining, no humidity really nice.3 days earlier it was raining as normal it was weird. We were at copse corner under a cover though. when Alosno came in the pits for a front wing change everyone laughed and booed him. there must have been 5 ferrari fans and a thousnd Mclaren fans in our grandstand lol.

Season end it will be about consistency!! Good race!

Found it interesting the McLarens apparently went backwards with the older exhaust setup when the new ones ended up so slow on Friday -- they are acting like a team that wants to win a constructor's championship. Looking forward to the rest of the season |
yeah if Mclaren can keep acting like a team then they're in pretty good shape. I think the red bull guys are going to ruin each others championship hopes at this rate, again they gave each other no room at the start.
When I get home next week ill try and post some pics of the circuit if they are any good. |

Yeah Vettel is a spoiled muk. hes good, but Webber is just as good to and he deserves it more than him since this is probably one of his last few years in formula 1 to win a championship. I love Webbers attitude when the press asks about the team relations at the moment. Its sad the team will side Vettel all the way since hes been through all the young drivers programs through red bull and would kick out webber first.

I think overall Webber is the better driver of the two. He's much smoother and has a cooler head. Vettel is too volatile and he's always breaking the car. Whether he gets better with age... who knows. He's probably the Kyle Busch of F1. Fast as hell but his own worst enemy. |
Yeah i agree 100%. I just hope it doesn't boil over to quick and screw Webbers chances of staying in f1.
Interesting new section to the track, very fast. but it was bumby cause you could see the cars fidgeting during practice and qualifying. Mid corner there is a dip you can see from the grandstands with binoculars. Didn't they know that would be a problem! Silverstone urged to smooth bumps for '11 - F1 | ITV Sport |
I'm curious how the new start/finish (pits) location will work with the track layout and spectator access!! I guess we'll see next year!
|
yeah its before abbey (i think cough cough). The new paddock is huge it dwarfs the original one and the one at Spa. So thats why the contract is so long, to make it worth building the new paddock. I don't think it will make any difference coming in to the track, but i don't know about the VIPs.
|
I'm just glad Silverstone is staying. With all the talk of it possibly leaving the schedule it's nice to know we've got it at least for a while.
F1 desperately needs more historic circuits with character. I would love to see them run at Zandvoort! :D |
yeah for sure. Silverstone was a full house. I hate hearing about these circuits people want to have as venues that nobody attends or are ever used other than once a year. I just googled Zandvoort looks like a cool track!
|
I'm just excited for Texas!! Can't wait!
|
Hell its a 2 hour drive from my house!! Me neither!!!
I just hope everything works out and they get the funds to start building it soon otherwise they're gonna run outta time |

And I hope it's a good track layout. I will definitely fly out there for the race if it happens. |
Fo sho. I just hope their return to the us is more successful than the last.
|
That was a great race. I let out a little cheer when mark took p1 and Vettel went off. I don't know why I'm so drawn to Mark over Seb... i guess I just like #2 drivers. :)
I was itching to read this thread but I didn't get to watch the race until yesterday so I had to resist. |
Two "WET" practices today and it's hard to say who the heck is quick as they haven't really had a dry track practice yet -- probably the usual suspects (RBR, Ferrari, & McLarens), but probably won't know for sure until the pre-qual session in the morning....
|
I'm looking forward to the race. I'm going to have to start ignoring twitter and this thread though since I won't be able to watch quali or the race until like Tuesday. :P
|
SPOILER ALERT!!! Quals Results
.....well no surprises there, Red Bulls & Ferrari's on the front two rows with the McLarens bringing up 5 & 6th. Looks like the only "wild card" will be the weather and wrecks (or malfunctions)......
|
Spoiler alert!!
SPOILER for those who haven't watched their DVR:
So, yeah, Massa made it very obvious in my view. He should have won that race or at least made Alonso earn it (which would have been FAR more exciting to watch, with what happened at Turkey in mind). I was not a fan of Alonso before the race regardless of how great a driver he is, but after that blatant team order, I really don't like him now or the Scuderia :shakes head: |
Team orders FTL. I did not catch the race but I got the jist of what happened.

:happydance:

Well, Tifosi have never cared about the driver... only the team. |

I'm Glad Ferrari is back in it but not a big Alonso fan. Teammates always have to beware of him. Massa is an honorable person. (He also wants his paycheck of course)
This article says it all about Alonso: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/for...=feeds-newsxml Ferrari Fined: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/for...rand-Prix.html |
Yea, I'm not a big Alonso fan either, and the "team orders thing" I certainly understand, but still don't like it -- let the fastest man win... Of course once again the Red Bulls self destruct -- not sure what the heck Vettel was thinking on the start, unless they are just that bad on the starts...
Most importantly, I'll be glad when we get back to Speed broadcasting the races live vice the tape delayed BS........ |

Fox just doesn't get it. Taped delay and cutting off the interviews!! :shakes head: |
alonso is a piece of **** and i hope they kick his arse out of f1 and ship him back to madrid to drive taxi cabs. ferrari are scum too. i wish they bring back raikkonen. he was boring on the podium and had zero personality, and occasionally lacked motivation to perform, but at least what he won he earned legitimately, not by cheating like that punk alonso. controversy follows him anywhere and everywhere he goes. from the spying scandal at mclaren, to holding teammate hamilton in the pits during qualifying, to ratting out mclaren to the FIA, to the crashgate controversy at renault, to today's race "victory" handed to him via illegal ferrari team orders. not to mention his continuing whining about everything from the law, to the stewards, to the fia, to the media, to his teammates, to his own teams, to the car he is driving. this guy just never shuts up! he is a spoiled brat who expects everything to be handed to him on a golden plate without having to work and earn it. i hope the fia cracks down hard and makes an example out of alonso and ferrari if they expect to retain any credibility for the sport. furthermore, they should outright reject ferrari's pathetic attempts to claim they are complying with the letter of the law by alleging that massa made the decision by himself to let alonso by. race fixing tarnishes the sport and alienates the fans. teams should comply not just with the letter but also the spirit of the law.
as for massa, why is he even still in ferrari? what's in it for him? money? he's not a bad driver. i'm sure many other top tier teams, or even mid level teams for that matter are willing to pay him to drive for them. surely, he can't be a worse driver than button! what else? other teams have slower cars so he won't be able to win races and fight for the wdc? well, he's not able to do that at ferrari either. ferrari clearly only hired him to be a lapdog and play second fiddle to whoever is their star driver, michael schumacher, kimi raikkonen, or fernando alonso. the only occasion ferrari ever supported him was in 2008 and the only reason they did so was because raikkonen sucked so bad he never mounted a challenge for the wdc. if massa wants to advance his career further, he has to leave ferrari. otherwise, he'll become another rubens barrichello. |

I don't like Alonso, he ruined what could have been a good battle for the lead by crying over the radio that he faster. I don't think Massa was ever that fast to start with in formula 1, so if he leaves ferrari next year hes probably finished. overall not an interesting race.
2 races in a row with these crazy starts Vettel you f**k up! oh well i don't like vettel either:p |

Here is the reality, they both drive for Ferrari... In Ferrari's eyes, the team championship comes first, then the drivers. Alonso has a better chance at winning the championship than Massa, and should out of support move out of the way. He proved his point he can still drive, now support your team mate. The same way kimi supported him in 2008. If you put them both to fight, you end up with a RBR, both of them are fighting each other and taking each other out and loosing points. Same thing is happening at mclaren, two good drivers, one clearly better than the other, but they do not support each other... And on Alonso's defense not that i think his attitude is correct, what was he supposed to do with the spy gate saga? keep quite like Wonder bread praying that maybe this way he can actually win a championship? what he did was right. |

If you think about it, this is no worse than stripping webber from his front wing... only difference is Webber told RBR to screw them selves and took a win.
|
Unofficially team orders have always been allowed. However, they are not to make it obvious.
|
OK, finally we're back to races broadcast in "near real time"......let the Hungary GP begin!
|
As boring as this is to watch, Webber is the man in F1 right now. I am sure Vettel is fuming right now because he can't keep up!
That was a chickensh1t move on his part on the restart, too. F1 just needs to adopt the NASCAR restart style and be done with it. :) |

It makes sense, though. F1 has no clue WTF they are doing when it comes to managing safety car periods. Just do it the NASCAR way (they obviously have it figured out) and you won't have crap like this happening all the time.
