Nice vids. That's a good mounting point too...never tried it before.
I think ill stick with the closed backing. Too much wind noise on the open on that you used.

Nice videos Nelson, it looks like you had a great run up to Mt. Baldy! I have to say the video looks a lot clearer than Andrew's for some reason (is the case still on?), your car sounds awesome btw.

Without a doubt, the guy in the Miata that spun out right in front of me agrees lol. Also, people will be busy during the holidays but we can always play it by ear anyway.

I am going to pick up a few long range models, which did you get?

djamalt 11-29-2010 12:13 AM

The 370Zs gonna work it out! Nice.

Taking Dec off eh? I'm not sure I'd be in town on the next run anyway, but I'll still be looking out for one. And yeah the ice on GMR will steadily get worse till mid-spring. Angeles Crest (the front side - up to the "old cutoff point") should be clear pretty much all winter, past that and you'll get snow and ice through April, you still have to go up the long way around through Sunland/Oro Vista. No ice in Malibu, although you do get runnoff from rain if it's been raining within 2 days of the run. I don't think Ojai gets any ice/snow either. How are the runs further south or further east? Seems like winter coolness is the time to hit those. I've actually never done any of those drives, but just throwing it out there.

Thanks. Case is always on. His is probably just picking up more dust because it's closer to the ground.

And for the exhaust sound you were mostly hearing pauls. We have pretty muuch have the same thing. Just diffferent hfc.

I think the roadster thought you were driving too slow that's why he didn't join us in the final stretch! jkjk
Only occasionally. I was on fumes by the time I got back down and to a Shell station, but I'll be sure to make sure I've got a bit more in the tank next time. Also I hope I'll have an oil cooler next time. Recommend the 25 row?

XwChriswX 11-29-2010 08:37 AM

Sorry I couldn't make it out guys. :shakes head:

A lot of nonsense got in the way and just kept backing up my departure time until it would have been too late for me to get out there. Then I would have had to immediately turn around and come back here Sat night...

If you guys have another one before Dec 15th I'll make sure to be there. If not, I'll be back after New Years...

Easily, that should be more than enough. That way, a walkie talkie can be with at least one person in each "group" so there isn't another repeat of losing our comrades!

Ah, gotcha. All I know is that it makes me desperately want a cat-back exhaust since all you guys have some wicked sounding cars.

Glad to hear you were able to coast it back to a gas station! 25 rows is the best medium in my opinion; it will be more than enough to keep oil temperatures down regardless of the conditions but will still let the car warm up in a reasonable amount of time.
