I will say that is good timing then, it would be awesome to get some video of the run. I am bringing my DSLR to take some shots of the group as well.

It seems like a few of us have never driven together, and some not in the canyons at all, so I'd imagine this ride will be spirited, but not balls out. You'll be fine. Plus, if this group is big enough, we won't be able to really tear it up anyway. Once our friendly neighborhood LEOs get a wiff a big train of sports cars winding their way through the canyons, radar guns will be firing all over the place. We'll still have some fun though, and enough radar free pockets for a couple of sprints!
:ughdance:

zero 09-14-2010 07:40 PM

Anyone knows if LEOs are still trapping people there on HWY1 going toward meeting spot?

christian370z 09-15-2010 12:40 AM

That is what I had in mind as far as pace, not balls to the wall but it will be spirited. I know this is not going to prevent tickets to a certain extent but I am sure I won't be alone in runner a radar/laser detector so that can be a safety net. LEO activity has been pretty lax as of late but this does not justify doing anything obscene haha.

sensi09 09-15-2010 03:42 PM

I believe there are still radar traps from the 10 to pch especially in the morning hours. For this reason, I would take the 101 to las virgenes to get to this meeting point in the past. Both ways are about the same distance for me.

For canyon runs though, I don't worry too much about tickets as I take it easy on the more busier sections as plenty of fun can still be found on the smaller canyon roads.

Jamaica 09-15-2010 09:14 PM

I will be going still due to HIN being cancelled. Really looking forward to it.

christian370z 09-15-2010 11:41 PM

I drove through the canyons today on my way to SpecialtyZ and there were so many freaking cops on Malibu Canyon Rd but most of the secondary roads were pretty quiet. Oh well, we will have fun regardless.

Nice to see you can make it Jamaica!

phelan 09-16-2010 12:10 AM

jamaica...bring some spare racer wrap? i might not have enough painters tape here haha

btw christian, i might have a 3000GT tagging along with us. friend of mine. figured it might be okay since we're not going balls out in the canyons anymore lol...but if the run is too big already let me know, he doesn't care if he gets left out by the nissan crew :rofl2:

We do not discriminate, of course he can join in. I would love it if everyone on the list shows up but I think that a group of a dozen cars is ideal and is realistic as far as how many people I am guessing will actually show up.

XwChriswX 09-16-2010 11:15 AM

I'll be repping the AZ crowd as usual.

Argh I think I got to clean my ride now. It has a really nice even layer of dust on it. Probably do a quick wash in the morning and let it dry on the freeway. lol.

See you guys tomorrow.

djamalt 09-17-2010 10:53 PM

Just did a down and dirty rinse on mine. It was kind of dark, hopefully I won't have to do too much touching up in the AM. See you all there!.

PS - you might want to gas up just before you get into the canyons. Gas in Malibu is pricey!!!

christian370z 09-17-2010 11:02 PM

Haha, tell me about it. How much mileage wise do you guys plan on driving? I have just over half a tank, it should be fine.

Waking up at 6am to wash the car? Yes, it is worth it. :)

phelan 09-18-2010 01:19 AM

....whyyy, it's just going to get dirty on the run again.....

Pictures: Malibu Z Meet

I would like to thank everyone who came to the 9am Z Canyon run this morning as it was truely a pleasure to meet everyone as well as check out some truely drool worthy rides. Next time, the meet will be held earlier and we will have a pre-planned route to avoid my little goof lol.

The pictures: here are a bunch I snapped at various points, some were quick while others I took some time to get a nice shot but I hope you enjoy them:

More people started funneling in after getting past traffic:

The whole line up of Zs:

The view from atop the first Canyon we climbed... I wish I got this picture when the car was still on so you could see my 260 degree temps lol

Further evidence I need an oil cooler:

After the run, some much needed rest and food was in order. It was awesome seeing all the Zs parked in one line; people from the restaurant came out and were taking pictures!

http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/u..._0065_1148.jpg

Conclusions:

-A great bunch of guys were able to show up, getting some good spirited driving in and having a beautiful scenic drive through the canyons
-The Amuse body kits are much better in person
-I need an oil cooler BADLY, and a few other guys do too (ahem, Tbonesteak)
-Probably need better brake pads; my base brakes were smelling up a storm after the final canyon descent
-The run will start earlier in the future with pre-planned routes to allow for a longer and uninterrupted drive

Thanks to everyone who came, I apologize in advance if I don't remember your names but I look forward to next time!
