Depends on your level on care you prefer with someone who works on your car. I personally would never trust any of the shops left down here, as i used to compete in sound quality.

I do know a very reasonable and affordable guy that does installs down here on the side thats extremely knowledgeable. Hes done a lot of fiberglass work for friends of mine. Feel free to pm me if interested!

Brandon dropped by today to sell me a new phone and since he'd been after me to get a few shots of his new car and Dustin was in town visiting I thought it'd be cool to get them together for a few quick shots. Nothing fancy, just a couple places I've used before near where I live... More tomorrow!

Nice pic!

Who's all going to C&C next Saturday? I haven't been to the one here - just wondering what time everyone shows up, anything going on afterwards, etc.

I'm planning to be there as long as I don't have to work (fingers crossed!). A few members from the Carolina Z Club come down from Charlotte to hang out. We usually go get lunch all together after we leave Michelin. You are welcome to join if you wish, Brandon.

Sounds good! Now I just have to find time to wash the car... I'm traveling for work this week and don't get back til 10PM Friday

HKYStormFront 06-23-2014 05:00 PM

I will definitely be there, BMDubs shut down doesn't start till Saturday evening so I don't have to work till Sunday morning, thankfully. See everyone there! And Brandon, I'm in the same boat, gotta find time to wash my car before the weekend!

I ordered a foam cannon attachment for my pressure washer and some new soap... I can't wait to try this thing out

djtodd 06-23-2014 07:50 PM

I've had a foam master for years. Love that thing.

If you're going to wash with soap, that's the best way to do it

I just want a shop that uses the utmost care, I'm not doing anything custom just looking into some upgrades that will require proper tech integration and wire routing and concealment is very important. Really wanting to go to a professional shop that had done everything. I'm going to replace my touring model headunit and i know that will require someone who is tech savvy and is good at integration.

Old Spice body wash, anything else would be uncivilized!! LOL
All jokes aside I have heard that some detail shops use Joy dish soap to remove all wax, etc. That way they have a clean slate to start with on a full out detail. Wax if in rain, polish if kept dry, or with an older car start clean with compound etc. if the paint is in bad shape and oxidized.

ONR is the only thing I use unless I need to strip a car down.

I love ONR, it was amazing when I lived in an apartment. But now with a house and a pressure washer the foam gun is where it's at. I swear I have like a gallon of ONR left somewhere... but I may have thrown it out before moving to SC

To each their own I suppose.

brancky3 06-25-2014 12:08 PM

Do you use a mitt with the ONR? I've been using grout sponges for as long as I can remember but wouldn't mind switching so I don't use a sponge once and toss it in the garbage

Yea, a good MF wash mitt lasts me quite a while with ONR.

djtodd 06-25-2014 07:37 PM

Yeah a good mit, two buckets and grit guards :)

Someone knows how to clean their ride

Generally after I do a high end detail for customers, assuming they are local and interested, I give them their first wash free and show them how to clean it well. Most people are blown away at how well that method works.

HKYStormFront 06-26-2014 04:42 PM

Don't forget Cars and Coffee this Saturday at Michelin HQ starting around 8am (for real this time!)

deuce189 06-27-2014 06:01 AM

^^^ Where is that?

C&C is held in the "back" parking lot at Michelin HQ on Pelham Rd. Once you turn down the side road there are bright green signs pointing the way :)

Edit: Map attached

My Z is about to get the full treatment, but I need distilled water so I must stop at a grocery store... Always missing something

phantom370z 07-04-2014 06:09 PM

ONR wash, full prep, 1 run of megs 205, 2 coats of BFWD, 1 coat of DG951...and 8 hours of labor http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/07/05/agu8a7u8.jpg

EDIT: The paint looks wet and amazing, this combo works well even on white. The picture however is terrible once Tapatalk converted it...

HKYStormFront 07-05-2014 08:10 AM

Bro do you even photo? :P

Thanks for the invite yesterday, I made it to a little after 4a for a total of 16 hours at BMDubs yesterday. Going back in at 6p today for startup coverage. We're in pretty good shape, the other company doing what we're doing on one conveyor (we're doing two)... not so much lol

Hi,

I am a new 09 Touring 370Z 6MT owner. I bought it 3 weeks ago in GA. It had 35,000 miles.
See my introduction post on the General forum.

My name is Damien. I am French and I moved to Greenville in 2012. I work for an automotive supplier (Plastic Omnium). I am a Paint Process Engineer and I work on development for new BMW bumpers/fenders.

See you on the forum or on the road!

deuce189 07-12-2014 08:07 AM

djtodd 07-12-2014 08:08 AM

There is one today. 3:30 at trophy lakes on johns island. We're leaving cola around 1:30

deuce189 07-12-2014 08:13 AM

Welcome and congrats on your new Z!

We should definitely plan a Greenville area meet sometime soon. Maybe sometime this week or next? What's everyone's availability?

After 7 I'm good usually.

Next week will probably work better for me, looks like I'm going to be pretty busy this week after work. Maybe next Thursday?
