If you want to go aftermarket, this is what I would look at:

Z1 Motorsports 370Z/G37 Oil Cooler Kit

The 19 row may not be much more than the OEM kit, might be worth the few extra bones to get the 25 row. Z1 has a good sales staff that can answer any questions you have about your stock cooler vs their cooler. Just give them a call
Next time I'm under the Z changing oil or whatever, I'll try to snap a pic of the stock cooler. Also, doesn't Nissan offer a different oil cooler that doesn't inherently void warranty?

Not that I have ever seen. I'd check with your local dealership that you would want to go to for warranty work but I cannot imagine that a larger than stock oil cooler would void any kind of powertrain warranty. Remember the letter of the law is that if worse comes to worse, the manufacturer has to prove in a court of law that your mod caused an issue you want covered. I don't think it could ever do that unless it leaked all the oil out and caused the engine to seize.

Just for reference, we run the 34 row oil cooler that Z1 sells on the World Challenge car. We use it in conjunction with a larger integrated cooler in the radiator. The radiator, for those who don't know, is a CSF custom build that is half coolant, half oil cooling and is twice as thick as the stock unit (have to delete A/C condenser). It would be the equivalent of running two 34 rows is what it looks like. When working properly (we lost an oil line this past weekend, resulting in a spun a bearing), our oil temps stay well within tolerable limits in full race conditions.

Thanks for the info guys. I am one of those "better safe than sorry" types. I may do a little bit of tracking but I also know that oil cooling is definitely an issue with any kind of spirited driving or track duty. I will check out the Z1 unit. Thanks again.

The oem cooler on the 12+ is a worthless piece of crap that just makes running bigger filters a pain. I have mine (and all the plumbing) in the garage if anyone wants it.

Go with a 25+ row cooler if you're going to bother with an aftermarket cooler at all. I'd recommend the 34 row. You can always block off a portion if needed. In the winter I run a block off plate to avoid overcooling.

Z1 and FI are the only two options I would realistically consider if I were purchasing today. Just make sure you get one with a thermostatic sandwich plate.

I too am a little concerned about this oil cooling issue. I dont autox or track like I used to but I do want to run the dragon from time to time with the Z and am worried that it will get overheated based on what I have read doing that. I drive the dragon pretty hard.

I picked up a 25 row for the GF's car. on the dragon and 28 it was still topping 220 to 240.

Normal driving shes at 180 now thanks to the thermostatic plate. My Old Z had a 34 row and that one worked great even on the track.

I used a z1 cooler on my old 370z and a z1 cooler on the GF's car.

Paul, I decided just to drive up Saturday morning early. Probably leave my place around 6:30am or so if you want to meet up. Exit 63 on i85 is the closest to me.

The Carolina Z Club guys are planning to go get sushi for lunch after so join us!

Yep. It turns out most of the regulars in Charleston were working or otherwise engaged this weekend, so we moved the June meet to Columbia, and will have the July meet in Charleston.

To save time, here's the snip from the facebook event (https://www.facebook.com/events/782746335103597)

The meeting point is going to change from our normal meeting spot in West Columbia, due to it being the 2nd Saturday of the month, and the Big Lots parking lot already in use for their normal classic car meet. So this time we will meet at the Bilo-Hobby Lobby parking lot just off Hwy 1 near I-26. This is exit 111A - go up two lights, and its on the Right side. We will meet there @ 3:30 PM, and leave around 4 for a short group cruise, then head over to check out the Flight Deck in Lexington for some food and drinks. There's usually live music of some sort there, and plenty of places to sit around and shoot the breeze. Afterwards, those that would like to go check it out, we will be riding across the Lake Murray Dam and heading over to Harbison for another meet (https://www.facebook.com/events/410406745769170/)
We'll be collecting any donations for Children's Chance (childrenschancesc.org) for those that can't make it out to the second meet in Harbison.

The July Meet will be in Charleston area toward the middle of July. More info to follow soon on that meet. Hope to see a good turn out on the 14th.

For those not on facebook, I'll be posting info as the next events come together. If you are on Facebook, make sure to stop by join the "Palmetto Z Club" group to stay up to date.

Same here man. I could go on and on for hours, so I try to dial it back a bit too

Wish I could have stayed for Ru-San's, but by the time I found the other goobers that drove up with us, I had to head back.

Hope to see you around again soon!

How about an upstate dinner meet next Thursday (the 19th). Location TBD, time ~7pm. Just spoke to Geoff and he we're talking about it. Throw out some suggestions for location, does not matter to me.

*Also, don't forget Cars And Coffee next weekend, Saturday the 21st. We will probably go to lunch afterwords somewhere nearby. Carolina Z Club will be coming down to join us as well, it'd be nice to get all the Z's parked together*

I won't be free until probably 7:15 Thursday but I'll see if I can get out, I've unfortunately been absent a lot recently.
