Bad Oil Change

I hate to be a jerk but, If you can't find the oil drain plug...like on the first freaking try...I'm not sure that you need to be changing your own oil.:icon14:

So I changed our Jukes oil yesterday and laughed out loud thinking of this post. The oil pan and drain bolt could not have been more obvious. Unfortunately the orientation of the filter makes it impossible to not make a mess though.

That's a lot of cars these days^

LOL....that post...seriously, it's obvious as ****.

Agreed on the filter orientation. Mini Rant: You CANNOT tell me that at the 2015 level of Japanese engineering it's impossible to make the filter safe and yet 80-100% vertical. Toyota/Subaru seemed to manage it just fine in the early 2000's. Which leaves only one viable conclusion, it's done on purpose to discourage self service.

I liked my GTI's oil filter - it was a cartridge filter (which are normally messy as ****) but there was a drain plug on the cap to drain everything before removing the cap itself. Great design, but you needed a 32mm socket to take the filter cap off - or you could crack it like it trying to use an adjustable wrench :ugh2:

HKYStormFront 05-26-2015 09:04 PM

I like cartridge filters, myself.

I've never owned a car that had one but I've heard good things.

you're working too much sir :D

On the car side though, I've really got to get moving on the headlight re-work and interior CF pieces so I can get this car finished up. I've gotten some prices and lined up a plan....I just need to actually...do it

Agree with the above^ You need to hear phantom's setup, it sounds amazing. FI is sorta mid-to-high range price for exhaust but it's soooo worth it. Great quality, perfect fitment and great sound.

cleanthez 06-23-2015 03:24 PM

I'd like to meet up and hear this exhaust. I can't trust youtube videos. When can we all get together and grab some brews?

EDIT: except this Thursday

HKYStormFront 06-23-2015 09:09 PM

How about this coming Monday?

cleanthez, I think I forgot to say thanks for the review from when you came in for your oil change, I was looking back through my reviews this month and saw yours, so... thanks :tiphat:

Speaking of that, if anyone needs any service work, please let me know!

Monday is fine for me anytime, I'm off.

cleanthez 06-24-2015 09:44 AM

What about this Friday after work? We can all let off some steam at Wild Aces? Also, does anyone know the 2013+ red 370z that works at Berrang off Pelham? Dude waved to me yesterday and i'm just wondering if hes on the forum.

HKYStormFront 06-24-2015 07:20 PM

I'm good with either. Whichever works best for more people is what we should do. I am supposed to get out of work at 6p every day this week but that's only happened yesterday so far. I'd say I won't be there until 6:30 or after, even though it's just around the corner

phantom370z 06-24-2015 09:56 PM

My Z's allergies appear as if they will be flaring up at that time, that said...enjoy yourselves :D

Went to the Growler Haus is downtown Spartanburg last night with some friends. It's a pretty dope place. You opposed to going to Spartanburg?

Being in Simpsonville it's further than I prefer to drive but I'm not specifically opposed just because it's Spartanburg. That said, I also don't drink anymore so places like that aren't somewhere I frequent.

I just wanted to drop in and say I bought my Z in Greenville at crown. I flew in looking to buy a pretty nice 350z from them, and they were going to pick me up in the 350 from the airport. I got there, and they showed up in a maxima... wtf? SO we are driving back, and I ask where the 350z is, and the sales guy driving told me that it was being detailed... ok.

We get back to the dealership, and they dont take me to the car right away. This whole time I am like "wtf is going on?" Then the general manager comes out and says that the 350z is "toast" and it was being offloaded by a tow truck. He said the wheel fell off on the way to get me from the airport. He took me around back to show me the damage as they were unloading it, the manager was pretty upset with the young salesman that this happened. I felt bad for the guy.And I was so sad.

They offered to put me up in a hotel and buy me a free plane ride home OR find a similar car.

Well, long story short, I got a good deal on the 1 owner certified 2013 370z :) 21k miles. The sticker was 27k, but he let me go with it for like 22k. And they got me the nissan preferred buyer or something like that.

Just wanted to say, SC is so beautiful, and the drive from asheville to knoxville through the mountains at night is crazy fun.

Sounds like it was a win for you. That section of the TN/NC border is called the gorge. I used to drive it once a week and you would definitely catch me breaking the speed limit around those corners.

Welcome Dave!

We still on for Friday (tomorrow) night? Say around 7pm or so? That works out better for me now, I'm going to be doing some work on the GXP Monday evening.

djtodd 06-25-2015 07:15 PM

I might make it up to c&c this weekend. Who else will be there?
