The only thing it will do when you hook it up is disable video and all when you start driving. I would recommend not using it. But yes that would be the wire you would use if you wanted to hook it...

Do not worry about it that badly man. It is not something that you NEED but more like a nice feature. Everything will work if you do not have the wire. It just will not dim when the lights are turned...

The purple wire goes to the trunk and do you see where the wires are pulled out of the plastic casing. There is a orange wire in there. Strip back the insulation and attack the purple wire to that....
