That's the size that I am running as well. 245/45/18 Pilot Alpin PA4 on the base wheels.

They are great for me in light-moderate snow.

You could futz with VDC, ABS, or otherwise impair handling. Not to mention as you increase your ride height with a taller tire you also decrease fender clearance, which can lead to problems when...

Not true. The Z is great in snow with snow tires (assuming it's no deeper than 4-5 inches).

That said, you should run as close to stock tire height as possible.
