How would wiring a switch in make any difference, I am not following? It's convenient but connecting and disconnecting the brown wires achieves the same end.

I agree. It should not based on what is known. But I know my car. I intend to remove the fuse since the difference is it removes power from the computer as well. If it works I'll comment about it.

Does anyone know the correct terminal extraction tool to remove the pin from the connector? This would seem like the preferred solution over cutting the wire.

I have been monitoring the threads relating to the failed steering locks for some time now and am definitely interested in some form of bypass mechanism. With or without the switch, I want one.
