Yes I hear what you are saying, it took me a good part of the afternoon to decide & take a drill bit to the trunk after getting everything layed out. But I really didn't want to worry about that...

I asked Jdew the same question a while back but don't think he has checked in lately. It's not real hard to mount with screws & will give you peace of mind about flying off the back at highway...

I got mine last week & it is on already, not real hard. It took me a day & a half & I was slowed down because I dropped a screw into the trunk cavity & had to get it out.
